FUNDAMENTALS OF ENTREPRENEURIAL ACCULTURATION (UW00302)


COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides students with the entrepreneurship knowledge, comprising method of
recognizing self potential in implementing entrepreneurial activities, as well as the exposure
to the basic management skills required for operating a business enterprise.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, students are able to:
a)
Understand the basic knowledge in entrepreneurship.
b)
Generate viable business idea with team members.
c)
Prepare a feasible business proposal with team members.
d)
Demonstrate the various skills of managing a stall or organising an event with
team members.

IMPORTANT NOTES
1. All the test and assignments/report/presentation are compulsory for all the students,
otherwise you will get an E (fail) at the end of the course.
2. All the assignments and report must be submitted before deadline. Submission deadlines
will be strictly enforced. Assessment items must be received by the due date and time.
Extensions will only be granted on medical or compassionate grounds and will not be
granted because of work or other commitments.
3. Attendance percentage must achieve 100% (must submit an official letter and MC to be
excused).

4. It is compulsory for all students to submit the online course (PK07) feedback
by week-12.

- This is a group assignment to develop critical thinking and entrepreneurial skills.
- Requirements of group assignment:
Members of a group are limited to ten-twelve (10-12) persons only.
Each group can choose one (1) of the following topics as their practicum project:
Choice 1 The practice of direct selling. (The group has to prepare business
proposal.)
Choice 2 Event management (The group has to prepare working paper for event
management.)
You are adviced to refer to at least five (5) references, including journal, articles,
magazines or online journal. Please include your references in your report.
Number of pages: 15-20 pages (excluding references) of A4 paper, typed with
double-spacing , using font size 11 and Tahoma/Arial font type.
Please submit your assignment in 1 hard-copy and soft-copy (COMPULSORY)
to your lecturer.
Submission dateline for the group assignment: 22.04.2016, 4.00pm
Late submission will be penalized, one (1) mark for each (1) day late will be deducted from
the overall marks of the assignment.

Practicum Project
The practicum project of each group should be conducted according to the topic of their
business proposal or working paper.
Every group need to make an appointment with their supervisor to discuss about their
practicum activity. Students are encouraged to discuss with their lecturer regarding
the practicum activity as well as the presentation.

prepare the practicum project:

Each team member must participate in all the activities, e.g. meeting with the
lecturer, group discussion, contribution in writing a business proposal and
report, preparing and running the practicum activities.

Each group is required to organize a practicum activity for one to two day (12-16
hours).

Practicum Report & Presentation


Submission dateline for the PRACTICUM REPORT assignment: three (3) days after
your Expo day

Please submit your report in BOTH hard and soft copies (CD)
(COMPULSORY) to your lecturer.
Submit the PRESENTATION SLIDE in hard and soft copies before presentation
begin.

Guidelines for the Report & Presentation


All groups will be given the opportunity to present their practicum projects report at
specific time which will be decided by the LECTURER. (Please refer to YOUR
RESPECTIVE LECTURER for PRESENTATION TIMETABLE)
All the group members must participate in the presentation.
It is up to the students to decide their report presentation style.
The main contents of the practicum activity Report & Presentation should include, but not
limited to:
i. Background of the practicum activity
ii. The achievement of business projects goal (Were the business objectives achieve?)
iii. The implementation/business strategy used to achieve the projects goal
iv. The effectiveness of the practicum project compare to its plan.
v. Financial report
vi. Significant lessons/experience obtained from the implementation of the practicum
project.
Time allocated for the presentation: 25 minutes (including 5 minutes of Q&A session) per
group.
Question & Answer session will be held after the presentation.
The PowerPoint slides should be submitted before the presentation to your respective
lecturer and supervisor (3 slides per page is preferable).
