Issue 02 (2012-12-04)
1 Overview
1.3 Features
The TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0 support easy installation, intelligent hibernation,
network Management over the NetEco, and wide range of AC input voltage.
Easy Installation
The power monitoring unit (PMU) and rectifier are hot-swappable. This facilitates the system
installation, saves maintenance time, and reduces the operational expenditure (OPEX).
Intelligent Hibernation
The rectifier efficiency increases in proportion to the load power. When the total load power is
low, certain rectifiers can be hibernated to improve the load power of running rectifiers and
increase the rectifier efficiency. This facilitates energy conversation.
rectifiers should be hibernated in turn to ensure the same aging degree. When the started
rectifier with the longest running time in total runs for 7 days (by default) more than the
hibernated rectifier with the longest running time in total, start all rectifiers for 2 hours and
then hibernate the rectifiers with long running time.
High Efficiency
The TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0 use rectifiers with a 91.5% efficiency record.
Remote Management
OPEX is reduced when the TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0 performs comprehensive
power management and battery management functions by connecting to the element
management system (EMS).
Low Noise
The noise specifications comply with ETSI EN 300 753 Class 4.1 (rural environment).

2.3.2 PMU
NOTE
The PMU manages the TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0 and storage batteries by
communicating with the host over an RS485/232 port. It detects power distribution and
generates alarms for power distribution failures. It also reports spare boolean values, ambient
temperatures and humidity status, battery temperatures, and spare analog parameters. Spare
boolean values and detection results from sensors are transferred to the PMU over the
monitoring signal transfer board and UIM.
The PMU implements local management, remote communication, and alarming functions. It
communicates with the element network system (EMS) by using the RS485 or RS232
protocol. It can also communicate with third-party equipment. The PMU can be connected to
a modem or an SNMP module.
The liquid crystal display (LCD) of the PMU displays operating parameters about the AC
power supply, DC power supply, rectifiers, and storage batteries. It also displays the operating
status and alarm status of the TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0. You can set parameters
and control functions on the LCD using the four buttons on the PMU panel.

installed ground conductor. Conduct the electrical inspection carefully.
Issue 02 (2012-12-04)
20
3 Safety Precautions
The device (or system) must be connected permanently to the protection ground before
an operation. Before operating the device, check the electrical connection of the device
to ensure that it is securely grounded.
To avoid electric shock, do not connect safety extra-low voltage (SELV) circuits to
telecommunication network voltage (TNV) circuits.
Before operating the device, wear electrostatic discharge (ESD) clothes, ESD gloves, and
an ESD wrist strap.
In the case of fire, immediately leave the building or the equipment room, and turn on
the fire alarm bell or make an emergency call. Do not enter a building that is on fire.
The temperature of some equipment parts may be rather high. Do not touch the surface
of such equipment parts to avoid getting burn.
The device must be fixed securely on the floor or to other immovable objects such as
walls and mounting racks before operation.
Tighten the thumbscrews by using a tool after initial installation and subsequent access
to the panel.
After the installation, remove packing materials from the equipment area.
DANGER
The high voltage power supply provides power for the device operation. Direct or indirect
contact (through damp objects) with high voltage and AC mains supply may result in fatal
danger.
Non-standard and incorrect high voltage operations may result in fire and electric shock.
The personnel who install the AC facility must be qualified to perform high voltage and
AC operations.
You must abide by the local rules and regulations when bridging and wiring AC cables.
During the installation of the AC power supply facility, follow the local safety
regulations.
Issue 02 (2012-12-04)

3 Safety Precautions
Dedicated tools must be used during high voltage and AC operations. Avoid using
ordinary tools.
When the operation is performed in a damp environment, ensure that the device is dry.
When water is found in the rack or the rack is damp, switch off the power supply
immediately.
Ground the device before powering it on. Otherwise, personal injury or device damage
may be caused by high leakage current.
If a "high electrical leakage" tag is present on the power terminal of the device, you must
ground the device before powering it on.
Do not install or remove power cables when the device is on. Transient contact between
the core of the power cable and the conductor may generate electric arcs or sparks, which
may cause fire or hurt human eyes.
Before installing or removing the power cable, turn off the power switch.
Before connecting a power cable, check that the label on the power cable is correct.
Power Cable
Power Output
All output circuits are evaluated as SELV circuits.
CAUTION
Outputs are energy hazards (>240 VA)
Electrostatic Discharge
CAUTION
The static electricity generated by human bodies may damage the electrostatic-sensitive
components on boards, for example, the large-scale integrated (LSI) circuits.
Human body movement, friction between human bodies and clothes, friction between
shoes and floors, or handling of plastic articles causes static electromagnetic fields on
human bodies. These static electromagnetic fields cannot be eliminated until the static is
discharged.

5 Maintenance
If the customer does not require the TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0 to be managed in in-band
mode, do not connect the TP48300B-X6X0 & TP48600B-X6X0 and the base band unit (BBU) with
an Ethernet cable or an RJ45 communications cable. If the customer requires the TP48300B-X6X0
& TP48600B-X6X0 to be managed in in-band mode, set the capacity of storage batteries on the
EMS.
After a fault is rectified, the corresponding alarm is automatically cleared on the PMU and the alarm
information is stored in the alarm history.
The BLVD fuse and LLVD fuse are both called load fuse.
Disconnect the fuse before replacing it. Otherwise, arc sparks may be generated, and this may cause
bodily injury.
After replacing the PMU, reset parameters by referring to the TP48300B-X6X0 Quick Installation
Guide or TP48600B-X6X0 Quick Installation Guide.
When replacing the monitoring board, take ESD measures such as wearing an ESD wrist wrap.
Circuit Breaker
The circuit breaker fault is usually caused by overcurrent or short circuits. Circuit breaker
faults are caused by overcurrent or short circuits. To check whether a circuit break is faulty,
perform the following steps:
Step 1 Switch the circuit breaker to the ON position.
Step 2 Measure the resistance at the two ends of the circuit breaker using a multimeter. If the
resistance is infinity, the circuit breaker is damaged.

Rectifier
The rectifier is damaged if either of the following conditions is not met:
The Run indicator of the rectifier is steady on and the Fault indicator is off when the
rectifier does not communicate with the PMU and the input AC voltage is around 220 V.
The rectifier outputs power normally.
The PMU can perform control on the charge mode (boost charge or floating charge) and
current for the rectifier when the rectifier communications cable is properly connected
and the rectifier communicates with the PMU normally.
PMU
If any of the following occurs, the PMU is faulty:
The PMU breaks down or fails to start, or its LCD or keyboard fails.
The PMU does not generate an alarm when a fault occurs in the system.
The PMU generates an alarm (false alarm) when the system runs properly.
The PMU fails to control or monitor all the modules when these modules run properly
and communications cables are connected properly.
Issue 02 (2012-12-04)
34
5 Maintenance
Load disconnection is prohibited when you replace the main components. Take measures to ensure
that important loads are always connected during the replacement. For example, keep the circuit
breaker of important loads set to ON and storage batteries and AC input are not cut off.
