Composer Research Project

Objective: Students will select an option for a research project about a famous composer. The student will
research information in books and on the internet and represent their findings through the project.
Due Date: Mon Feb 15

Counts as a test grade.

Option #1: Poster


The student will complete a poster and it must contain the following:
1. Poster Size: 15x20 inches or smaller and your NAME on the back of the poster
2. Composer name in big letters serving as the TITLE
3. Picture(s) of the composer
4. Composers birth & death dates
5. Include 10 facts about his life such as region or country he was born; childhood, middle, and adult life;
education; his primary instrument; type of music known for; what or who influenced him; significant
historical events that occurred during his life; etc.
6. Name a famous piece by the composer
7. 3 references cited, MLA formatted (easybib.com)

Option #2: Power Point


The student will complete a PP and it must contain the following:
1. 5-10 slides
2. Composer name, birth and death dates, and your name serving as the TITLE (on 1st slide)
3. Picture(s) of the composer
4. Include 10 facts about his life such as region or country he was born; childhood, middle, and adult life;
education; his primary instrument; type of music known for; what or who influenced him; significant
historical events that occurred during his life; etc.
5. Name a famous piece by the composer
6. 3 references cited, MLA formatted (easybib.com) on the LAST slide

Option #3: Presentation


The student will complete a PRESENTATION in front of classmates and it must contain:
1. 5-10 NOTECARDS with all your info (will be turned in after presentation)
2. NAME on the back of each card
3. Include 10 facts about his life such as region or country he was born; childhood, middle, and adult life;
education; his primary instrument; type of music known for; what or who influenced him; significant
historical events that occurred during his life; etc.
4. Name a famous piece by the composer
5. 3 references cited, MLA formatted (easybib.com) on 1 of the notecards
6. You can dress up as the Composer (extra points!!!)

Option #4: Composers Diary


The student will create a diary written from the composers perspective and it must contain the
following:
1. 5-10 diary entries with dates can be typed (double spaced in 12-14 pt font) or written paper and must
be 300-500 words
2. Composer name, birth and death dates, and your name serving as the TITLE (on cover of the diary)
3. Picture(s) of the composer
4. Include 10 facts about his life such as region or country he was born; childhood, middle, and adult life;
education; his primary instrument; type of music known for; what or who influenced him; significant
historical events that occurred during his life; etc.
5. Name a famous piece by the composer
6. 3 references cited, MLA formatted (easybib.com) on the LAST page
7. You are encouraged to be creative with your diary. Include a hard cover (can be poster board or a folder)
and bind it (can be string, brads, etc.) with the pages inside.

Option #5: Research Paper


The student will write a research paper about the composer and it must contain the following:
1. 300-500 word typed (double spaced in 12-14 pt font) or written paper
2. Composer name, birth and death dates, and your name serving as the TITLE (on cover page)
3. Picture(s) of the composer
4. Include 10 facts about his life such as region or country he was born; childhood, middle, and adult life;
education; his primary instrument; type of music known for; what or who influenced him; significant
historical events that occurred during his life; etc.
5. Name a famous piece by the composer
6. 3 references cited, MLA formatted (easybib.com) on the BIBLIOGRAPHY page
7. Remember to be organized with your work write in paragraph form with an introduction, body, and
conclusion. IF YOU COPY/PASTE INFO YOU WILL BE ASKED TO DO IT OVER!!
