An eating disorder is a serious illness, but
thinspiration websites turn this illness into a quest
and a hobby. In this way, technology is helping to
skew the way in which people deal with eating
disorders, and it is not healthy.

-The media, through technological advances,

penetrates the minds of younger generations early
in their lives, powerfully influencing decreased body
satisfaction. Many research studies have discovered
a connection between exposure to fashion
magazines and a heightened level of eating
disorder symptoms in girls. Children and
adolescents are not the only vulnerable groups to
media saturation, as research has also shown a
relationship between media exposure and eating
disorders among college-aged students.

What the technology of the internet allows, is a

disembodiment. People can be whoever they want
to be. People forget their bodies and what that
really means in the real world, because it is simply
irrelevant on the internet. The authors explain that
[t]here is no race. There is no gender. . . There are
no infirmities. There are only minds (Young &

How this relates to the overall theme of the blog is

that technology allows people to change their body.
In other words, people can embody anyone who
they want online. If you have access to a bunch of
pictures of someone that is attractive, it is very
easy to pretend to be that person.

Evidence(s)
Greater control over self- presentation can
enabled someone to hide the physical cues to
identity that are ascribed the body. The identity
information cannot be inferred and thus can has to
explicitly communicated accurately but sometimes
not such as we cannot see one another by face-toface.
( Ellison, Hancock and Toma,2012,page5)

of viewing one's Facebook profile versus looking at
oneself in a mirror on Self-esteem. In related study,
user can be remind about important aspects of their
lives and thus looking at one's own profile can boost
one's behaviour and feelings of self worth and also
can motivated to selective self -present online

We can now consider the possible effects that

communication technology may have on a
childs language and literacy skills
Proposed effects on language. Models of
language
acquisition stress the importance of human
interactions in developing language skills.
Children raised in very deprived language
environments can struggle, particularly with the
development of social communication (Bishop,
2001). A major concern regarding
communication technology is that it
potentially encourages social isolation and that
this may have a negative impact on language
skills.
Proposed effects on literacy. There is research
that
shows that computer use may encourage the
development
of general cognitive skills that, in turn, should
support the
development of higher order language and
literacy skills.
Comparisons have been made between
computer use and
television viewing (Subrahmanyam et al., 2001)

Technologys role in our lives is astonishing. Its

effect on the way we communicate has changed the
English language forever.
To be more specific, the way we speak today is, by
and large, the way we spoke before the internet
became what it is, albeit with an enriched
vocabulary. Conventions of telephone conversations
have, to my mind, changed little: we still use the
same methods if not words to greet and sign off,
for example.
Email altered the structure of the letter as a
communicative tool. It brought with it a whole new
etiquette, as well as new conventions and new

abbreviations, such as IMO (in my opinion), FWIW

(for what its worth), IIRC (if I remember correctly)
and FYI (for your information).

technology does have a positive effect on the
workplace.. Having technology in the work place is
a blessing in disguise. With more research,
companies will be able to figure out how to use
personality to their advantage instead of letting it
cost them money. Technology has already become
essential in today's society. E-mails, memo's,
calendars, and organization can all be taken care of
online, and to make such benefits successful,
suitable personalities may play a large role in its
effectiveness
To management, we would recommend using
technology to get to know their employees and
placing people in a job environment that they are
best suited for. Personality is essential in
determining person-job fit because people are not
cookie-cutter molds; they are unique individuals
and need to be treated as such. Not everyone can
and will succeed in certain positions. Management
should learn to identify traits in people looking to
work for the business. In addition, personality also

plays a role in how you want your company to be

viewed. If the company represents values that a
person do not share, or do not believe in, it may
affect the business directly since companies have a
"liability to an employees bad act[11] ". We urge
management to consider the consequences of
having unfit personalities in the workplace.
Negativity can spread like a virus crippling your
company from the inside-out. Management needs
to make sure it can control potential discontent
before it happens.
Technology has a great influence behind companies
of changing in their organizational structures;
companies change their organizational structures in
order to adapt to the advancing technologies ,and
to be more productive and competitive. Technology
is a form of communication that has improved the
market place for the better. Technology is also a
more efficient way for transacting business but it is
also a great use for the business because it greatly
improves work flow.
What are the Pros and Cons of Technology in Organizational Structure
o Pros
save money and time
information sharing
reduce risk and mistakes
improve overall effectiveness and productiveness
Technology is certainly important in organizational structure because it helps a
company to be successful in many ways. For instance, information technology saves
a company time and reduces costs by eliminating the steps in the communication
between individuals, departments within a organization, and also between
companies. Using operational technology allows information/data to be used more
effetively ,and tasks are completed using less time while risk and mistakes are
reduced to the lowest level.
o Cons
employee education/ training
maintenance by professionals
privacy and security issues
lack of computer expertise

difficulty developing relationships

limitation business types
However, there are concerns of using the technology. New employee trainning will
need to be provided, and it could be a major expense. Tech support and
maintenance for operation softwares will also need to be done in case of softwares
crashes.[10] Privacy and security are issues for internet-based process sysyem. It is
important to make sure who the person is on the other line, and who will be getting
the information behind computer networks. Company will also have difficulties to
develop relationships with other companies since information are available and
open to the world market. For instance, a business located in United States has little
chances to meet face-to-face with a business in Asia. Other minor disadvantages
could be lack of computer expertise and issues with copy rights.[11]
