Research for the Internet of Things
iRIoT - interdisciplinary Research for the
Internet of Things
iRIoT has been created by a group of professors
from the Escola Politcnica (Engineering School),
Law School, School of Communication and Arts
of the University of So Paulo to develop joint
research. It is the materialization of the common
knowledge that IoT is interdisciplinary and
multidimensional.

Creative currencies
The social design of these currencies has been subject to
continuous discussions over the last 4.5 years with Ministry of
Finance and Tax Collection Agency (Receita Federal). It has also
been subject to visits (one to our software development lab under
Prof. Amazonas at USP) by Banco do Brasil Foundation officials.
In 2005, the project and its first results were presented and gifts
were offered to Claude Lvi-Straus, during the Brazil-France Year
and 75th anniversary of USP. The project has also been
presented at the European IT Summit (there is a video shot in
Brussels as part of the PRO-IDEAL framework), at the AUF
Assembly in Tunis (2013, by appointment of the International
Relations Office at USP) and was highlighted by UNESCO during
the Rio+20 Summit as one of the "+20 ideas to spin the world".

Creative currencies and H2020

A new project has been submitted to the EC that will create an innovative
IT ecosystem to support the citizens behavioural change to achieve
greater energy efficiency in public buildings.
The project objective is to make citizens aware of the importance of
energy efficiency not only to save money but to have a cleaner and
healthier environment.
This objective will be pursued by developing an innovative IT ecosystem
implemented by means of:
1) a Gamification process with support of social networks in which
users will contribute with ideas and actions to save energy, and
2) creative currencies, which will be used to reward users for their
energy efficient behaviour, which can be changed through educational
and cultural activities.
