Vietnam
A country where renaissance is the buzz-word, Vietnam is on the move. Access is
now easier than ever, infrastructure is being upgraded and the countrys famed
entrepreneurial spirit is once again alive and well. It has become increasingly
integrated with the world economy and became a member of the WTO in 2006.
It is a country with an intoxicating sense of vitality and optimism; with vibrant paddy
fields and sparkling-white beaches, dynamic cities and venerable pagodas often
overwhelming in its sheer beauty. The country is strategically positioned, Laos and
Cambodia to the west, China to the north, and ocean to the east & south.
Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon to use its historical name, is the most active city of Vietnam.
It is located in a prime geographical position, converging many favourable conditions
for economic development.
The city is arguably one of the most lively and charming destinations in South East
Asia, offering a wealth of natural beauty and overflowing with stunning tropical
landscapes, inspiring mountains and ancient architectural treasures. Beautiful old
buildings rub shoulders with temples and fabulous shopping opportunities abound in
Chinatown and in the many boutiques and shops throughout the city.
With a rising economy, a well-educated populace, and modern facilities,
Ho Chi Minh City is considered by many to be the economic, cultural, scientific,
and technological hub of the country.
And from Dong Khoi Street, the citys premier shopping precinct, it is but 25-minutes
by power boat through winding and picturesque waterways fringed with coconut
and mangrove trees, to Six Senses Saigon River.

The Village
At the very heart of Six Senses Saigon River sits The Village. Authentically reconstructed,
this traditional village is the bustling core from which the soul of the resort radiates.
It is the place to meet, to see and be seen.
Vietnam is a shoppers paradise, and The Village brings a host of local fashions,
bric-a-brac, jewellery, art and handcrafts directly to you.
Then there is the spectrum of dining and refreshment outlets. Imagine old Vietnam
and a classic French cafe. Fine dining is offered in the yesteryear ambience of an
elegant French restaurant. Enjoy Vietnamese and regional specialties or pop
into the pho shop for traditional soup and noodles.
Relax in the Brown and White bars for pre and post dinner drinks, or refreshing
libations at almost any time throughout the day. Enjoy a snack from the deli,
a health boost from the juice bar and be tempted by the ice cream parlour.
The Village is easily accessible from every villa, by water or elevated walkway.
Electric vehicles are also on standby to ferry guests and residents between their
villas and The Village.
On the other hand, hip is in at The Den. With dcor inspired by the mischievous and
indulgent Saigon dens of a century past, our Den is a specialty bar; the trendy place
to be at night with a mood DJ serving up chill music while the bar dispenses great
drinks for good times.
Meanwhile, back at The Village, indulgences include the French cafe and Chocolatier.
In addition to the best coffee in the region, chocoholics can enjoy all manner of
temptations, from beverages to confectionary. Nearby is the ice cream parlour, with
more than three dozen tempting flavours. Or take the high road this once, and drop
into the healthy juice and snack bar for a conscious-free alternative. Seating at both
outlets is inside and alfresco.
Vietnamese Restaurant
Not only is the country of Vietnam taking centre stage as the new destination of
choice, the cuisine of Vietnam is also fast becoming popular the world over.
And at Six Senses Saigon River, the diversity of dishes can be enjoyed at the
Vietnamese Restaurant the resorts main dining outlet. Made up of several timber
and terracotta tiled buildings, the restaurant adds additional interest for diners
with a display kitchen.
Located near the village square, it is an all-day outlet with breakfast and lunch
buffets in addition to a la carte fare. The mood is very casual, with seating
extending to lakeside daybeds. Several private houses are ideal for groups
and special gatherings.
Continuing the Vietnamese theme, is a Pho Noodle Shop, bringing the authentic
flavours of street food in a bowl. Nearby, is an array of comestibles, cold cuts
and collations in the Deli shop.
In this same complex can be found the Main Bar. It is an inviting gathering place
at almost any time, with lounge seating and daybeds, offering a wide selection of
cocktails hard and soft, a selection of beers or a glass or two of wine.
As much of the food and ingredients as possible are sourced from farms and
suppliers in the local region. Cooperatives of farmers grow organic vegetables,
fruit and salad for the resort, resulting in an exceptional quality of fresh produce.
Such practice significantly reduces the environmental impact whilst on the other
hand creating a positive socio-economic impact.
The Organic Farmhouse, Mushroom and Rice Museum goes to the very core of
the resorts environment and social commitment. Surrounded by a rice field,
the organic garden is fully integrated in to the restaurant. Guests observe the
fresh ingredients being picked, then prepared to make favourite dishes.
For Youngsters
Inspired by a ladybug, then conceptualised into this striking building by architects
and designers, this unique structure is the domain of younger guests and residents at
Six Senses Saigon River.
The facility features some of the worlds most creative experiences for kids, guided by
professional supervision. There is a computer room for visual arts and the latest
entertainment consoles. Cooking classes for budding cooks, a junior cinema and
craft builder wet room will keep visitors immersed for hours. An outdoor playground
offers opportunities to explore nature and work off some energy with a giant slide.
An observation deck adds to imaginative play scenarios.
In the true spirit of a dedicated realm for youngsters, adults should be invited into this
kids kingdom by their children.
Constructed from materials such as timber and bamboo from renewable sources,
this junior hangout is a refreshing and truly exciting experience that children will
remember for a long time to come.
