1st year foundation

• Human form : learning to study and draw from human figure

• Installation : Three dimensional translation of theme in to a site specific installation

2nd year foundation

• Drawing and exploring with different media

• Typography : Introduction to the fundamentals of Typography

• Colour kaleidoscope – introduction to textiles – creating home accessories keeping the play of
light in mind.

3rd year : Textiles

• Shibori – stitch resist, arashi (pole wrapping), clamp resist, degumming, cloque (heat resist)
and direct application.

• Offloom techniques – coiling, crochet, knitting and wrapping..

• History of Indian textiles : Overview of Traditional Indian Textiles

• Introduction to Print – sketching from nature, mood boards, creating patterns for a collection

• Illustration – contextual drawing

• Printing project – a course on screen and block printing This was followed by a hands on
project to create home furnishings for the traditional home stays in Belur (the HOYSALA
HERITAGE CONSERVATION PROJECT).
 • Natural and chemical dyeing – Scouring, degumming, mordanting and dyeing of yarns, as
well as, silk and cotton fabrics.

• Embroidery – Kasuti and Lambani

4th Year : Textiles
