    LiteracyintheContent(10%)
    Thiscategoryincludesreadingassignmentssuchasteenbiz
    andcontentspecificreadingassignments

    FormativeAssessment(40%)
    FormativeAssessmentisawayforustomonitorstudent
    progressbeforeasummativeassessment.Thisincludesallworkwhiledevelopingconcept
    mastery.Assignmentssuchasquizzes,laboratoryactivities,andinvestigationswillbeincluded
    inthiscategory.

    SummativeAssessment(50%)
    SummativeAssessmentsincludeformalassessmentsof
    studentcontentmastery.ThiswillincludeLearningSettests,writtenresponsesusingthe
    Claim,Evidence,Reasoning(CER)responses,oranyprojectdemonstratingstudent
    understanding.

    TeenbizArticleGradingScale:
    StudentswillbeassignedweeklyteenbizarticlesonFridayofeachweekanditisdue
    thefollowingFriday.Ifstudentsscorebelow75%,students
    must
    completethe2nd
    assignedarticle.Thefirsttryisthescorethatistaken.
    Articlesarescored:
    75,88,100%=10pts.
    63=8points

    50=6points
    below50%5pts.
    (provided3readingconnectionsaredoneontime,iftheyarenotthenonepointistaken
    offcannotmakeupthereadingconnectionsifnotdonebeforeactivity),pointsarealso
    takenoffifthearticleislate(oneortwopointsdependingonhowlatethearticleis).

    LateWorkPolicy:
    Therewillbenopenaltyoflateworkforunitwork.Studentsmayturninanassignment
    lateandstillreceivefullcredit(parents/studentswillknowtheassignmentislate
    becauseinpowerschooltherewillbearedlatetabnexttothenameoftheassignment).
    NOworkwillbeacceptedAFTERunitiscomplete.Thezerowillremainazeroin
    powerschoolandwillnotbeabletoberemoved.

    AbsentWorkPolicy:
    Uponreturningtoschoolafteranabsence,itistheSTUDENT'SRESPONSIBILITYto
    findoutwhathe/shemissedandmakeupthework.Afilecontainingallabsentworkis
    locatedinthefrontoftheclassroomforstudentstocheckandfindworksheets,labs,
    etc...Astudentmustcompletetheworkwithinthenumberofdaysequaltothelength
    oftheabsence.Lowergradeswillnotbegivenforlateworkduetoexcusedabsences
    unlesstheworkissubmittedlate.

    AcademicDishonesty:
    Cheatingconsistsof,butisnotlimitedto,claimingsomeoneelseswords,images,or
    ideasasyourownimproperorlackofcitinganotherpersonswords,imagesorideas
    obtaininganswersfortests,quizzesorassignmentsfromotherstudents/othersources
    eitherwithorwithouttheirconsentgivinganotherstudentaccesstoyourwords,
    imagesorideas(lettingthemcopyyourwork),talkingduringatestorquiz,etc.JUST
    DONTDOIT!

    ExtraCredit:
    Idonotofferextracredit.Ifyouwantagoodgradeinmyclass,youneedtoLEARN
    THEMATERIALIAMTEACHING!Ifstudentsdonothaveanylateormissingworkin
    thequarter,Iwillroundtheiroverallpercentageifthishelpsthemgetthenextletter
    grade.

    LabSafetyPolicy:
    Thesafetyofallstudentsintheclassroomisofutmostimportance.Eachstudent
    receivedacopyofthelabrulesandagreedtoabidebythelabsafetyrulesinawritten

    contract.Studentswhodonothaveasignedlabsafetycontractturnedinwillnotbe
    permittedinlabsuntiloneisreceived.
