Michel Huerta FAA Headquarters Federal Aviation Administration 800 Independence Ave, SW Washington, DC 20591 Dear Administrator Huerta: ‘My name is __. Lreside at We are affected by the constant onslaught of helicopters, sea planes, and jets to and from the East Hampton Airport. | am calling on the FAA to enforce its regulation by ending transitioning by pilots before Orient Point, as they are intentionally short cutting the ‘mandatory route. We need your support in amending the North Shore Route, to have helicopters fly past Orient Point and east of Plum Island, with no exceptions including weather. We refer you to the FAA’S Advisory Circular No: 91-36 on Visual Flight rules Near Noise Sensitive Areas, which says: “Excessive aircraft noise can result in annoyance, inconvenience or interference with the uses and enjoyment of property, and can adversely affect wildlife. It is particularly undesirable in areas where it interferes with normal activities associated with the areas use, including residential, educational, health and religious structures, also sites and parks, and recreational areas (including areas with wiklemess characteristics, wildlife refuges, and cultural activities) and historical sites where a quiet setting is generally feature o attribute.” ‘The report's most important statement is this: “An avoidance of noise-sensitive areas, if practical, is preferable to over flight.” We propose that itis practical. We KNOW it is preferable. We believe it is possible — if, and only if, you set as your primary goal, one overriding all others, of reducing airport noise. © Establish helicopter approach routes that remain primarily over water. © Enforce helicopter height-of-fight regulatio © Rotate the approach lines for light for light aircraft and jets so that no one area takes the brunt of low-flying aircraft. Peaceful enjoyment of the East End of Long Island can be restored and you can be the agents of that peace. Sincerely, TOWN OF RIVERHEAD NEWS Office of the Supervisor SEAN M.
