Formal Reflection
Summary

In the article Clearing the Confusion between Technology Rich

and Innovative Poor The author explains that digital learning
technology can help students to understand concepts more quickly.
There are Six Questions by Alan November talk about the
importance of the digital learning in a school environment. It is like a
guideline to help teachers developing their skills and knowledge.
The first question is Did the assignment build capacity for critical
thinking on the web? Mr. November mentions that one of the
teachers responsibilities is guiding the student to use the advanced
search tools. He asks teachers this question to be aware of the
research skills that are essential for getting an instructional search.
The second question is "did the assignment develop new lines of
inquiry?" The assignments that encourage students to ask more issues
that never ask are the main goal of the excellent teachers. Teachers
have to focus on creative and innovative assignments that motivate
students to ask questions and search for more information.
The third question is "Are there opportunities for students to make
their thinking visible?" The author highlights that teaching students
how to depend on their selves when they are doing their works, which

is called self-assess, will let the teachers understand their students

thinking or doing through the assignments.

The fourth question is Are there opportunities to broaden the

perspective of the conversation with authentic audiences from around
the world? Motivating
students to publish their work on the Internet is an important method
that helps them to enhance their feedback. The writer believes that
some students like to have a global audience rather than only one "the
teacher." So, supporting students to publish their works is the essential
opportunity to expand their perspective of the conversation with
authentic audiences from around the world.
The fifth question is " Is there an opportunity for students to
create a contribution?" And the example that Mr. November provides
about Geometry students explains the positive effect of integrating
assignment with a real life problem. This model gives a clear view that
students need to feel and agree with the purpose of their work because
when they feel that the assignment has a contribution use, the raise on
their learning accomplishment will be observed.
Finally, the last question is Does the assignment demo best in
the world examples of content and skills? teachers should pay

attention to the importance of watching a video on the YouTube with

their students. It is a valuable tool for teachers to share with the
students "the best of " experience. Using best in the world will
increase students motivation and inspiration that challenge them to
work harder.

Reflection
After reading the article, I firmly believe that these six questions
are imperative to each educator who wants to develop and to get the
advantages of the digital learning environment in their school. All
teachers should take care of the assignments that they will build for
students. Moreover, teachers should help their students to find the
advanced features in a research engine, and to enrich their skills of
searching to get more quality information and answers. Mr. Michael
Gorman confirms that asking students to search to find information on
the Internet is the main method to teach them an important process
that will help them through their future schooling and careers.
I also learned that recording video or voice will improve
students performances because the visible way has a significant

writing encourages

confidence, rewards interest, and promotes a positive attitude toward

literature. This point is beneficial and useful for the students. Sharing

strengthen their confidence on their selves and prospective which is

considered as a first goal should educators and educational institutions
concentrate to achieve it. In addition, sharing works with others will

help students to gain useful feedback. So, teachers should be eager to

encourage their students to publish their works in the Internet, social
media, and blogging.
In conclusion, those six questions will progress the education, if
teachers start applying it before building the assignments.

Today,

technology is the contemporary language, and using it for educational

purpose will prepare students for their future. Training students to use
search tools, publish their tasks, contribute to the world by sharing
their works with wild world, and make the learning visible are
important factors to design creative assignments.
