Writing 11 E07Portfolio
A-level Assignment
TSW #1 The compilation of work into a portfolio demonstrated strong unity in the
student's work.
TSW #2 The student reflected on the development of his/her work in detail and with a
critical eye.
E02 Narrative Writing: In this unit, the student will focus writing abbreviated plots, conflict, and
setting in the narrative mode of writing. Qualities of narrative writing include sequencing, expressive
writing, and realism; employing transitions, sensory language and dialogue.
Strengths:
I think that I feel very great about how I made the many descriptions of the bad weather. I used sensory words
to make the story have more sensory images. I think that it still was not the best story I used the sensory details
since it was the first writing piece of the year. However, I really liked writing about one of my personal story.
Weaknesses:
I did not have many topics that I liked, and I was not really interested in the topic. My word choices on
describing my feelings could have been better. I did not care enough about emotion words. If I can do it again, I
will add more emotion words to it.
E03 Poetry Writing: In this unit, the student will apply poetic devices in various poetic forms, and work
on descriptive writing to heighten his/her use of sensory language.
Strengths:
I liked the poetry writing very much since the pieces are short so I get to writing many pieces of them. I really
liked the ones that was the fill in the blank ones. I think I did the best on them. I put lots of emotion to
describe who I am.
Weaknesses:
For Haikus it was very hard for me to use good nature describing words with specific syllables. I was more into
the syllables than the nature describing. I should have care about them both so the poems can be better.
E04 Literary Analysis Holes: In this unit, the student will summarize, analyze and express an
opinion on the novel. Thereafter, the student will construct a full analysis by combining the summary,
analysis, and opinion; employing transitions.
Strengths:
I read the book when I was nine. I wrote a lot about the book in the analysis, more of a summary. I liked the
author and the book. The transitions I put was way greater than what I had for the writing pieces before this.
Weaknesses:

I was not descriptive enough about the story. I did not tell enough about the story arc in the analysis. It is
something I am working on in the literary analysis I do.
E05 Expository Writing: In this unit the student will write in the expository mode; learning to
classify and organize ideas, types and details within the context of space and time. The student will create
classifications or instructions while applying transitional terms; creating a sequence of steps that makes
sense.
Strengths:
On my redo I added way more transition words and the sequence of steps. I made the ideas of each step way
more clear. Not just what is the step, but also why the step is important. I also really liked the idea how I can
explain to someone how to do something I really like.
Weaknesses:
The first video I did was not great. I was not quite clear about the video, part of it is because I was stressed out
because I failed landing for about three times in a row. Next time before I do the video I will be more prepared.
E06 Persuasive Writing (Arguments/Persuasion): In this unit, the student will write a
formal persuasive essay. First the student will establish a thesis on an argumentative point. Thereafter,
he/she will apply the rhetorical triangle of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Strengths:
I picked a tic that I was really into at that time. I expresses my opinions very strongly. I used good sources. It
was the first time I did in-text citations and I think I did great. I made my sources look very reasonable.
Weaknesses:
Now thinking back to the topic I wished I could have picked a better one. Sometimes I had arguments with
myself about which side I should pick. That might made my argument a little bit weaker. If I picked another
topic I could have my argument even stronger.
S05 Creative Writing: In this unit, the student will write an original story by applying the 8-Point
Story Arc. The story should demonstrate strong plot and character development through meaningful
conflict.
Strengths:
I made the story very suspense. The even though the ending of the story is sad, but all the chances the character
had made the story very suspense. I wanted to make my story as interesting as possible, since I have read boring
stories and it was very not interesting. I made all the edits that the comments said.
Weaknesses:
The ending of the story is very sad, since I wanted to revenge on the readers since the other authors made the
stories sad for me, and it made me hate the story. Maybe next time I can make a story with a better ending.
