Weight and Piece concept
In line with international regulations, Emirates offers free baggage allowances based on either
the weight or piece concept, depending on specific routes.
Weight concept:
If your itinerary includes flights operated by other airlines, different baggage rules may apply for
these flights learn more.
The standard free baggage allowance for all other Emirates destinations (excluding Canada,
North or South America) as per the weight concept is 50kg for First Class, 40kg for Business
Class and 30kg for Economy Class.

Individual items with total dimensions exceeding 300cm (118 inches) cannot be transported as
checked baggage, and must be sent as cargo or freight. There are no exceptions to this rule.
For tickets issued prior to 15th November 2014
Items beyond 300cm (118 inches) and up to 400cm (157 inches) in length may be accepted in
exceptional cases. Please contact your local Emirates office for details at least seven working
days prior to travelling with such items. Items exceeding this limit must be referred to Emirates
SkyCargo. If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, normal excess charges apply.
Piece concept:
The standard free baggage allowance for flights operating to or from Canada, North or South
America is determined for each single piece of luggage.

Total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece must not exceed 150cm (59 inches).
Customers with individual items exceeding above dimensions up to 300cm (118 inches) will be
charged an additional fee. Individual items with total dimensions exceeding 300cm (118 inches)
cannot be transported as checked baggage, and must be sent as cargo or freight.
For customers with two pieces of luggage in all three classes, total combined dimensions of
both pieces should not exceed 300cm (118 inches).
For tickets issued prior to 15th November 2014
Total dimensions (length+ width+ height) of each piece must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches).
For Economy Class customers with two pieces of luggage, the total combined dimensions of
both pieces must not exceed 273 cm (107 inches). Customers with baggage exceeding these
dimensions will be charged an additional fee.
For travel on Emirates to or from Canada, North or South America, the piece concept applies on
the entire ticketed journey. Excess baggage will be charged at the point of baggage acceptance up
to the tagged destination. If your journey involves a stopover, the excess baggage will be charged
from the stopover point to the final destination at piece concept rates.
However for travel on Emirates from Australia, New Zealand or Asia to North or South America
which includes a sector in Europe or Africa, the weight concept will apply for the entire ticketed
journey.
If your travel starts in the United States and the first carrier on your booking is not Emirates,

Free baggage allowance for infants:
Customers with infants are allowed an additional bag up to 10kg (22lb) that may not exceed 55 x
38 x 20cm (22 x 15 x 8 inches) in size where the weight concept applies, or one piece of up to
23kg (50lb) and with total dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 115cm (45
inches) where the piece concept applies.
