ABOUT MODULAR FURNITURE


Modular furniture is pre-made or readymade furniture which can
be used according to the need and room spacing. Its easy to install
& dismantle according to need & it gives modern look to your home
or office. As looking to the limitation of space in apartment of flat,
modular furniture is very helpful to save space. You can use them in
different ways.
Modular furniture is less expensive in compare to its utility.
Installed & dismantled in short period of time, easy to transport,
can be installed according to use & choice & it bring modern look
& feel in the room. They are flexible enough to arrange according to
the choice. They are also available in various colors & designs.
The most popular modular furniture for home is modular kitchen.
Customization in furniture is possible according to the need.
Modular bedroom, leaving room, shelf, cupboard, are available in
long range. Also TV show case, study desk & computer table give
different look to the room.
Modular office furniture has the advantages of being customized,
accessible and convenient and therefore modular furniture is
extremely popular in modern workplaces. Chairs, Desks,
Workstations, Conference tables, Storage, Partitions, Filing
cabinets & cubical are the most popular furniture presently
preferred by most professionals.

A. MODULAR FURNITURE

Modular furniture would include:

Admin 12 Pax & Conference Room Table

1. Table top shall be 25mm thk finished with 1mm thk laminate &
matching PVC edge
band 2mm thick, Understructure of meeting tables shall be combination
of powder
coated metal and laminate panels as shown in images.
2. Tables shall be stable & firm.
3. Understructure of tables shall have good wire management
capabilities with
separate routing for power and data/voice cables.
4. Cables from floor to the table top should be concealed within the
table leg.
5. All electrical and data/voice points to be accessed from table top
through a cavity cutout
into the top.
6. Table shall have wire Management system preferably accessible from
the table top on the
horizontal surface. Cable dumps to be provided depth of cable dump is
250mm, sockets,
switches data and voice points are to be provided at the bottom of the
dump. Flip top to
be provided to the flush of work surface.
7. Provision for cable cubby to be considered.
8. All edges to be rounded off at least 300mm dia.

II. Admin Computer Center


1. Table top shall be of size 1350 x 600 internal clear. Refer Attached
Layout.
2. All specifications as per normal workstations except the divider
screens.
3. Divider screens of 25 mm to be provided made of Lacquered glass on
left side and pin up
Surface of right side.
4. Height of divider screen to match the main spine that is 1050mm.
5. During prebid meeting Fixing details and other hardwares to be
shown .

the table top.

shall be accommodated with in the dump.

6. End tables need to have corridor facing sides to be closed ms powder


coated perforated panel.
7. Power and data need to be taken to the workstations using vertical
risers or legs.
8. Side panels above the work top to be with fabric and writing board.
Fabric surface shall be of pin up of magnetic board.

General Specifications for all types of furniture


1. Furniture shall not have sharp edges.
2. Minimum 5 years warranty of system supplied shall be applicable.
3. Furniture shall have provision for concealed entry/exit of electrical /
networking cables at
any point.
4. Fabric to be Rs 400/rm with fire retardant properties. Vendors to
submit test reports for the
same.
5. Each lock to have a set of 4 keys.
6. All glue / adhesives used in manufacturing furniture (viz. glue to stick
veneer / laminate to
base wood, fabric to tile) shall be environment friendly.
7. All furniture shall have levelers for up to +/- 25mm min.

8. Vendor to submit furniture drawings (plan, elevation, section &


isometric view) along
with bid.
Technical Specifications for the Modular Furniture
1.0 Specification for Workstation
(a) Modular furniture work stations, 1500mm x 1500mm having
arrangement as single-seater,
two-seater or four-seater including 1200mm (+ upto 75mm) high
tile based partition.
(b) Storage pedestal drawer.

1.2 Tile Construction
(a) Fabric Tiles base shall be made of minimum 4mm thick MDF
(Medium density fibre)
Material or particle board of minimum 9mm thick, fabric of
approved shade and quality.
(b) Laminate tiles shall be minimum 4mm thick MDF Material
base or particle board of minimum
9mm thick base with lamination of approved colour.
(c) Glass Tiles shall be minimum 4mm thick toughened fitted in
powder coated Aluminum
Alloy frame (He-9-63400) along with provision of corner/ top/
bottom clips made of
nylon 66.

1.3 Work surface


(a) Standard table top height 740mm (including table top
thickness of 25mm)
(b) Work surface shall be 1500mm x 1500mm made up of 25mm
thick laminated plain
particle board interior grade conforming to IS: 3087-1985 (or
Latest if any) with PVC
lipping/edge binding 2mm thick.
(c) The top shall be factory-made, laminated with laminate of
1mm thickness of approved shade as
per IS : 2046-1995.
(d) Bottom shall have a backing laminate of minimum 0.6mm
thickness.
(e) The front edge of work surface shall be provided with
machine pressed 2mm thick PVC
lipping/edge binding.
(f) Non-working edges of the work surface shall be provided with
machine pressed 0.5mm thick
PVC lipping/edge binding.
(g) The cable manager on the work surface shall be of flexible
plastic component for easy and safe
passage of wires.
(h) Plastic keyboard pullout tray made up of durable ABS
(Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
material shall be on sliding telescopic channels.

(i) Prelaminated three drawer pedestal 450mmX450mmX715mm


(Using 18mm and 12mm thick
boards) with two equal size drawer and one file drawer duly
fixed under the work surface.
(j) Drawers shall have channel arrangement for smooth
operation, with best quality stainless
steel handle and latest technology magnetic type locking
arrangement.
1.4 Adjustable wheel mounted CPU trolley
Adjustable wheel mounted CPU trolley made up of CRCA D
grade MS as per IS: 513- 1994 duly
powder coated (coating thickness 50 to 60 micron).
1.5 Specification of Powder Coating
(a) Powder coating shall be with Epoxy powder of a standard
shade or as required.
(b) The specific gravity of powder should be such that it gives
DFT (Dry Film Thickness) of 50
60 micron.
(c) It should withstand salt spray test of not less than 1000 hrs as
per ASTM- B- 117.
(d) SCRATCH HARDNESS TEST as per DIN 53153 shall be
conducted and results should be
such that no scratch shall show bare metal with a load of 3 kgs.
(e) The following seven step phosphating process treatment
shall be conducted before powder
coating.

(i) Hot water rinse


(ii) Knock of Degreasing
(iii) De-rusting
(iv) Cold water rinse
(v) Activation
(vi) Phosphating
(vii) Passivation.
1.6 Work Station Chairs:
(a) Medium back rest ergonomically designed revolving chairs.
(b) The chair should have a hydraulic gas-lift (As per DIN 4550
2004-12 - Klass 3) for seat height
adjustment.
(c) Fabric shall be fire retardant (As per ASTM D 1230-1994, IS:
11871-1986).
(d) The seat and back should be foam-cushioned and back
should have ABS cover.
(e) The chair base should be of nylon material (BIFMA 5.1) for
strength with nylon wheels (As
per ANSI/BIFMA X5.1-2002).
(f) There should be armrest and push-back mechanism
(Mechanism Synchro-1 locking)) with

2.0 Specification for Storage:(a) Storage shall be of pre-laminated interior grade particle
Board confirming to IS: 2046-1995,

having latest technology magnetic lock.
(b) It should have two adjustable shelves for effective space
utilization.
(c) The units shall have two doors.
(d) Metal leveler brackets shall be provided to give extra
strength.
(e) The storage shall not have any sharp edges.
(f) It should be of desired shade as approved by RDSO
authorities.

MODULAR KITCHEN

Kitchen modular furniture systems are popular today. Most


manufacturers of modular kitchen furnishings offer upper
cabinets with options such as single or double doors and solid
or glass door panels. Box-shaped cabinets with pre-drilled holes
on the sides allow shelves to be added according to how much
space is needed between each shelf.

A lower modular kitchen unit may have a sink already inserted


in the top with cupboard space underneath. Lower units may
have shelves, drawers or a combination and may be adjusted to

fit a specific kitchen. For example, after a rectangular base unit


is chosen, it may often be expanded by adding on a rounded
modular section to increase a kitchens workspace and storage
space.

MODULAR DINING ROOM

Dining room furniture may also be modular. Some modular


furniture systems for dining rooms feature tables that may be
added on to create more seating by placing several of the same
table sections together.

Living room modular furniture often

includes sectional sofas. Sectional sofas have different units or


sections that create a whole sofa and some of these may include
beds or large footstools as part of the design.

MODULAR BEDROOM

Modular closet furniture is popular in bedroom closets. Modular


closet designs consist of many different components that can be
fitted into closets to create a storage system that looks built-in.
For example, shoe racks that sit on the floor or that are wooden
shelves that fit near the center of the closet can be added to
created modular storage. Hanger bars that can be hung at
different levels are space savers, as they hang two rows of
clothing in the amount of space used by clothes that hang from
a single top bar.
Bedroom modular pieces include dressers, head boards and
night tables that are pre-made and ready to assemble. Dressers
may have the option to add an extra hutch or top dresser
section to allow for more storage. Children's bedroom modular

furniture is especially popular as different pieces can be added


or modified as the child grows. For example, some baby cribs
are designed to be converted into a single bed after the child
outgrows the crib. There are also bunk beds that convert to twin
beds or to a larger bed if the twins are pushed together
