Overview:
OurSemesterlongMultimodalprojectwillconcernfood.Sincefoodhascountless
subcategories,wewillonlyfocusonaselectfewaspectsofit,suchasorganicfood,theimpact
ontheenvironment,foodallergies,andfoodproduction.Topresentourtopictotheaudience,
wewilluselinguistic,visual,andauralmode.Ourexplanationsoffoodrelatedtopicswilluse
thelinguisticmodebecauseweareshapingourdescriptionswithwords.Picturesandvideos
willcatchtheaudiencesattentionandbettertheirabilitytoenvisiontheconceptsthatweshare.
Photoswillalsohelptheaudienceretaintheinformationwearearticulating.Ourgroupwill
makeuseoftheauralmodebyselectingphotosandvideosthatevokeemotions.Thevideosand
photoswillmaketheaudienceempathizetowardstheissueandmakethemunderstandthatour
topicissignificant.Toapproachourtopic,wewilldivideourselectsubcategoriestoadifferent
memberontheteam.Eachmemberwillberesponsibleforresearchingtheirsubcategory.We
willkeepourinformationinonedocument(GoogleDocs)thatcanbeaccessedbyallofus.That
way,wecanseewhoneedshelpinresearchingtheirtopicandwecangiveourinputonother
groupmembersresearch,andlevelofsophisticationinlanguage.Aftergatheringour
information,wewillstartcollectingphotosandvideosrelevanttoourtopics.Wewillalsostart

ProjectPlan:
Tostartthepresentation,wewillbeginwithaninteractiveactivityfortheaudienceto
partakein.Itwillhighlightkeyquestionsofwhichwewillresearchandanswerthroughoutthe
presentation.WewillusewebsitessuchasPolleverywhere.comandKahoot!togarneraudience
participationandtoimplementtheuseoftheaudiencescellphones.Thisactivitywillbeusedto
showhowlittlethemajorityofusknowaboutatopicthatisclosetothesurvivalofusall.After
thegame,thepresentationwillcontinuethroughaPrezi.Oneachslide,therewillbeanimage
thatrelatestothetopicofquestion.Wewillcarefullyconsidertheamountofinformationon
eachslidesothatallfactsarereadableandeasilydigested.Toaugmentcomprehension,wewill
mainlyusevisualmodessuchasbeforeandafterpicturesofarainforest,graphsthatfeature

Justification:
Ourplanisappropriateandeffectivebecauseitwillproducelittleconfusion.Wehavea
plantoguaranteethattheaudienceunderstandstheinformationthatweprovidethroughpictures,
videos,etc.Wehavecoveredawiderangeoftopicsthatareessential,yetoftenignoredinthe
schemeofissuesrelevanttotodayssociety.Thisprojectisimportantbecauseitaffects
everyone.Ourrelianceonfoodofalltypesiswhatlinksusallfromdifferentethnicgroups,age
groups,andreligiousgroups.AlsoasinhabitantsofEarth,wearealldirectlyimpactedbythe
damagesitexperiences.Ourresearchraisesawarenesswhichcanleadtochangesinbehavior
andbetterconditionsforourselvesandfuturegenerations.Theinformationthatweprovidewill
encourageouraudiencetolivesustainablysothattheirhealthisprotected.

RolesandResponsibility:
Inthisprojectweareinvestigatingfood,anditsvariousforms.Wehaveseparatedthis
broadtopicintodifferentcategories.Onepersonwillhavetheresponsibilityofresearching
organicfoods,andwhetherornotitishealthierthannonorganicfoods.Furthermore,wewill
delveintothetopicofingredientsinfoodthatmakethemaddictive,morefavorabletocertain
peopleandwhysugaristhenumberonedruginAmerica.Asecondpersonwillhavethe
responsibilityofresearchinghealthissuesassociatedwithfood.Foodallergiesisanexample
specificallywhypeopleareallergictocertainfoodsandnotallfoodsinthatcategory(for
instanceapersonwhoisallergictonutsandnotpeanutbutter).Lastly,thethirdpersonwill
examinetherelationshipoffoodtootherissuessuchastheWaterCrisis,anddeforestationfor
theuseofpalmoil.

Timeline:
Wewillstartworkingfurtheronthisprojectforthedurationofthissummersession.On
7/19afterclass,wewillmeetupanddiscusswhattopiceachoneofuswilltake.Duringstudy
hallthatday,wewillestablishexactlywhateveryoneisdoingfortheirtopic.Nexton7/20,we
willstartourextensiveresearchonourspecifictopics.Duringstudyhall,wewilldiscusswhat
wehavegottendonesofar.Wewillcontinuethisprocessuntil7/25,whenweshouldhaveall
ourresearchcompleted.Wewillorganizeourinformationandprovidefeedbacktoeachother
duringstudyhall.Next,wewillstarttoputtogetherthevisualpresentationon7/27.Wewill
continuetobuildthepresentationuntil7/30.Afterthepresentationiscompleted,wewillmeet
upthefollowingdayduringstudyhalltodiscusswhoshouldberesponsibleforeachpartofthe
oralpresentation.Everythingshouldbedividedandwewillbereadytostartpracticingby8/1.
Lastly,on8/3wewillmeetupinstudyhallandgothroughthewholeprojectfromthevisual
presentationtotheoralpresentation,andmakelastminuteadjustments.Theprojectwillbedone
by8/4andturnedinthefollowingdayinclass,wherewewillpresentourtopictotheaudience.

Conclusion
:
Weplanonendingthepresentationinawaythatmakestheaudiencemoreawareabout
theprocessesthatsurroundfood.Eatingfoodissomethingeveryonedoesdaily,sowefeelthat
peopleshouldknowaboutwhattheyaretakingintotheirbodies.Wewantpeopletobemore
consciousofthenegativesaboutfood.Ourpurposeisnttoscarepeoplefromeatingfood,just
tohelpthemmakesmarterchoiceswithfood.Thetakeawaymessagewewantouraudienceto
understandisthatfoodhashiddenoperationsencirclingit,anditisourjobtodoproperresearch
