formattoAdventure.[10]Starman'sandSandman'sserieswere
canceledtomakeroomforthenewfeatures,whileoneother,
GeniusJones,movedtothecomicthenewarrivalshadjust
vacated.Superboybecamethestarofthebook,andwouldappear
oneachcoverinto1969(countingSupermanonthecoversof
issues#354355).Superboy'spopularityinAdventureresultedin
thecharacterreceivinghisowntitlein1949,whensuperhero
titlesingeneralwerelosingpopularity.Krypto,theSuperdog
debutedinissue#210(March1955)inastorybyOttoBinder

SuperboymettheLegionofSuperHeroes,ateamofsuper

Asof#425(December1972),thebook'sthemechangedfromsuperheroadventureto
fantasy/supernaturaladventure.Thatissuedebutedonenewfeaturealongwiththreenonseriesstories,
thepiratesaga"CaptainFear".Thenexteditionaddedasemianthologyseries,"TheAdventurers'Club".
Soon,editorJoeOrlandowastryingouthorrortingedcostumedheroes,firstBlackOrchid,[21]thenthe
Spectre.[22][23]Beforelong,though,conventionalsuperheroesreturnedtothebook,beginningbehindthe
Spectre,firstathreeissuerunofAquaman(issues#435437,anearlyassignmentforMikeGrell)and
thenanewlydrawn1940sSevenSoldiersofVictoryscript(issues#438443).[24][25][26]Aquamanwas
promotedtolead(issues#441452),andbackinghimupwerethreepartstoryarcsfeaturingtheCreeper
(#445447),theMartianManhunter(#449451),bracketedbyissuelengthAquamanleads.Hewas
awardedhisowntitleandSuperboy(#453458)tookoverAdventurewithAqualad(#453455)and
Eclipso(#457458)backups.FollowingthiswasarunasaDollarComicformatgiantsizedbook
