Developyourthesis.Thethesisstatementisa12sentencestatementatthebeginningofyourpaperthatstates
themaingoalorargumentofyourpaper.Althoughyoucanalterthewordingofyourthesisstatementforthefinal
draftlater,comingupwiththemaingoalofyouressaymustbedoneinthebeginning.Allofyourbodyparagraphsand
informationwillrevolvearoundyourthesis,somakesurethatyouareclearonwhatyourthesisis.[5]
Aneasywaytodevelopyourthesisistomakeitintoaquestionthatyouressaywillanswer.Whatisthe
primaryquestionorhypothesisthatyouaregoingtogoaboutprovinginyourpaper?Forexample,yourthesis
questionmightbehowdoesculturalacceptancechangethesuccessoftreatmentformentalillness?Thiscan
thendeterminewhatyourthesisiswhateveryouranswertothequestionis,isyourthesisstatement.
Yourthesisshouldexpressthemainideaofyourpaperwithoutlistingallofyourreasonsoroutliningyour
entirepaper.Itshouldbeasimplestatement,ratherthanalistofsupportthatswhattherestofyourpaperis

Determineyourmainpoints.Thebodyofyouressaywillrevolvearoundtheideasthatyoujudgetobemost
