INTRODUCTION:
This course focuses on the helping skills in counselling; counselling strategy to cope with
behavioural problems: affective strategies, behavioural strategies and cognitive strategies;
skills of counselling and interventions applied in counselling are also the focus of this course.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The objective of the course is to assist students to:
1. be familiar and understand antisocial behaviour among adolescence.
2. apply process of counselling
3. apply skills in counselling session
4. apply interventions in counselling session.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, students are able to:
1. conduct individual counseling session by applying the stages of counseling.
2. demonstrate attending skills in individual counseling session.
3. apply counseling theories in individual counseling session.
4. apply strategies and techniques in individual counseling session.
5. interact competently, confidently and ethically with others.

Students are required to abide by the universitys Academic Regulation pertaining to all
matters during their course of study. Learners are advised to take note that class
attendance is very important. Learners who do not meet the attendance requirement will
be barred from sitting for the final examination.

You are expected to fulfill the following requirements of the course to obtain a grade:

Find a client and do case study of the clients problem. Carry out a session
consisting of:
a) Counselling five stages

Setting Counselling Goal and Planning Action Strategy, and
(v)
Termination Stage,
and
b) Counselling Skills
Make a presentation of the case study. Write a report on the case study
including its verbatim.
