Abstract

Existing hold on type pedal operated paddy threshers are very much laborious for the poor
farmers in rural India.In these paddy thresher,the farmers hold the paddy thresher on the
threshing cylinder with hands and at the same time also press the pedal for rotating the cylinder
to thresh the paddy grains. This provides extra labour to the farmers which become monotonous
for them.Keeping these things in mind, effort is made to fabricate a pedal operated paddy
thresher which require minimal human effort and also less no of operators.Here power is
transmitted from the pedal to the rotating drum using chain drive mechanism with a semiautomatic feeding system which is completely different from the current pedal operated paddy
thresher.The rotating drum is of conical shape and grainstalks which are to be threshed moves
from inlet to outlet by gravity force and grains are separated simultaneously. It is a cheap paddy
thresher based on simple mechanism using conventional energy.
