Following results about percentage of rural population are calculated on a basis of sample
containing 45 municipalities:

Test the hypothesis that municipalities have minimum 22% of rural population, on average.
Example 3:
The average grade of the University students is the random variable that follows Normal
probability distribution with the mean of 7,83 and standard deviation of 0,86. Sample consists of
150 students, and the average grade in the sample was 7,71. Test the hypothesis that the average
grade decreased in population with type I error of 5%.
Example 4:
Suppose that the average IQ coefficient in the population is 104 with standard deviation 7,5. 25
students from the sample are passed special course and their average IQ was 109. With type I
error of 6% test the hypothesis that the average score obtained in the sample does not
significantly differ from the assumption for the entire population.
Example 5:
The manufacturer claims that at most 90% of consumers demand additional services. In a sample
of 200 consumers, 170 of them demanded additional services. With the type I error of 5% test
manufacturer claim.
Example 6:
The manufacturer claims that at least 96% of elements of equipment used in production satisfied
environmental standards. Examining the random sample of 185 elements of equipment showed
that 20 elements did not satisfy specified criteria. Test the claim of manufacturer with
significance level of 99%.
Example 7:
It is known that the variance of a percentage of damaged products in the old technological
process was 25. New technology that provides increase of variance is introduced. Using new
technology, 55 of products is produced and variance of 28 is calculated. With the type I error of
5%, test the assumption.
Example 8:
In the sample of 18 elements we calculated the variance of 15. With the type I error of 5% test
the statement that the variance of population is equal to 15,5.

Statistics lectures are carried out by teaching methods A and B. From the sample of 10 students
that followed the teaching method A, we got the following test results:

a) Can we accept the assumption that, on average, there is no statistically significant
difference between efficiency of methods A and B, with type I error of 5%?
b) With the type I error of 1%, test the statement that students who attend Statistics lectures
by method B, gain minimal of 80 points on the exam.
