The NI ELVIS Optical Communication Add-on Board employs an effective, modular, and
hands-on approach using which students can rapidly build baseband communication circuits
with fiber optic links by working with fiber and wire-based patch cables. It features a block
diagram approach that allows students to build and measure communications systems
corresponding to those commonly found in textbooks.
Working from block diagrams, students can create communication circuits by wiring
together system components with plug-in patch cables. A comprehensive lab manual is
also included with experiments that feature background information and step-by-step
instructions.
Features
The NI Optical Communication Stand features a unique block diagram approach to modeling Optical
Communication Systems
The Stand is a Hands-on Experiential System
It comprises of microphone inputs and headphone outputs to allow students to use their own voices as
signal source
It also comprises of optical couplers, optical filters, transmitters and receiver blocks, etc
It enables the study of single and multiple mode of optical transmission characteristics
The Stand can be extended to study Physics, Lens and Optics on fiber losses and splicing
