WARNING:

USE THE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION.

OIL CAN HAVE ADDITIVE CALLED TRICRESYL PHOSPHATE IN IT. THIS CHEMICAL IS AN
ASPHYXIANT, IT IS POISONOUS AND CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN.
USE CARE WHEN ENGINE OIL IS DRAINED. HOT OIL CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE BAD BURNS.

WARNING:

DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN
YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).

CAUTION:

MONITOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION OF THE APU VERY CAREFULLY. IF THE OIL CONSUMPTION IS TOO HIGH, OR IF IT INCREASES SUDDENLY, THERE IS A RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE
APU.

Procedure

Do a check of the Oil Level and Replenish (Gravity Fill Procedure)

NOTE: Before the oil level check, make sure that the APU inlet door is closed. If the door is open, the
APU did not go through the entire shutdown cycle and adding oil at this point could cause overservicing. The closing of the inlet door is the final step of the shutdown cycle. If the door is open, the
APU must be started, run for 5 minutes and correctly shutdown to make sure that the APU inlet
door is closed.

49-90-00-600-007-A - Check Oil Level and Replenish (131-9(A))

NOTE: If the APU page of the ECAM shows 'LOW OIL LEVEL' and there is no oil leakage, Airbus recommends to do oil servicing before 10 APU operating hours.
NOTE: Do the Oil level inspection check and servicing a minimum of 15 minutes after the last shutdown.
Do not re-service before the APU is operated again.
NOTE: If oil consumption is high, do the troubleshooting procedure Ref. TSM 49-00-81-810-867 .
(1) Do a check of the oil level on the sight glass.
NOTE: If the oil level is at the FULL mark on the sight glass, do not add oil to the APU.
(2) Put the CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) in position below the APU filling port to collect oil overflow.
(3) Make sure that the filler cap is clean.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DRAIN THE ENGINE OIL AND/OR LOOSEN THE FILLER
CAP. HOT OIL CAN SPILL PAST THE FILLER CAP WHEN THE OIL LEVEL IS ABOVE
THE 'ADD' RANGE (MARKED ON THE SIGHT GLASS).
(4) Open the filler cap.
(a) Pull the lock and slowly open the filler cap to release any pressure from the APU.
(5) Add the oil.
WARNING: PUT THE OIL INTO THE GRAVITY-FILL PORT SLOWLY. THIS WILL PREVENT A
BLOW-BACK OF HOT OIL WHICH CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION: DO NOT FILL THE GEARBOX ABOVE THE FULL MARK ON THE SIGHT GLASS.
DURING APU OPERATION THE OIL EXPANDS WHICH COULD CREATE AN OVERFILLED CONDITION RESULTING IN LEAKAGE AND POSSIBLE OIL SMELL IN THE
CABIN.
(a) Slowly add the oil until the level in the APU is at the FULL mark.

NOTE: If you want to do a brand oil change:

- do the top-off procedure
