the Air Force. After one year in the Air Force I married the most wonderful lady in the world. I
tell everyone she is a much better person than I. We had two children while stationed in
England. My wife always knew I
loved Corvettes especially the 1962.
On our 25th wedding anniversary
she told me to buy a 1962 since she
had saved enough money over the
years. What an angel, since she has
no interest in cars, especially old
ones. I was an Air Trac controller
for the FAA in California and a

Glorious Mankato Weather!

The weather and the organization of this event

was spectacular! Blue skies and white clouds were

awesome along with green corn fields and colorful
flowers!and no humidity. Ken Rothove had a

surprise response (after his Corvette was judged)

when he asked "what deductions do I need to work

on and the Master Judge replied, how can you

work on deductions if you dont have any. And

we learned that Carol Barker has custom valve

covers on her CamaroNOT! However, we did

Carol Barkers Camaro

learn just how long it can take to be served food at

a Perkins restaurant. Andmaneuvering a 60 ft.

trailer in a Perkins parking lot is easyjust ask Jon

Kernodle.

On Friday, while most of the guys were

preparing their cars for the Saturday show - a few

of the girls took off into an old historic town called
New Ulm - where we found antiques; good food;

and history galore! We shopped and had a good

lunch and toured a restored mansion.

Rollin Nostalgia July 4th Car Show ~ Pittsburg, Kansas

Courtesy wooden picture frame with participants photos from Rollin Nostalgia Show

Organized and led by Jon Cooper, a group of AACA-KC members including Don Cox, Roscoe Yoder,
Dana & Dave Noble, Ken & Trish Lee and Fred Hall departed at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, July 4th to attend the
Rollin' Nostalgia Car Club's 26th Annual Car Show in Pittsburg, Kansas.
It was a foggy drive to Pittsburg but, the weather improved and heated up significantly once the car show
began. As each show car entered the venue, a photo was taken of our cars and the pictures were printed and
placed in a wooden antique license
plate picture frame courtesy of the
Rollin' Nostalgia Car Club. As an
added bonus, Fred Hall and Ken &
Trish Lee won Top 20 trophies! All
of us had a fun day and were able
to get back home in time to enjoy
the fireworks events.

Royals Hall of Famer - Frank White

Along with about 12 other cars,

we were able to drive around the
perimeter of the ball field during
pre-game ceremonies (player
warm-ups, ceremonial first pitch

The Nobles car

& National Anthem). The T-Bones

mascot, Sizzle, posed for photos by
our cars and we were able to visit
with Royals Hall of Fame 2nd
baseman Frank White. The crowd
and players liked our cars and the TBones personnel treated us very
well. Thanks T-Bones!

AACA-KC Meeting - Longview Lake Annual Picnic - July 10, 2016

The Longview
Lake Picnic was
a good outing
the chicken and
side dishes were
excellent! We
had close to 50
people show up
despite the hot
weather!
Fortunately, we
had a breeze and
the shade that
Shelter #14
provided was
good!

Members enjoying chicken and side dishes

We heard from members about other car events they were participating in
and about the awards they were winning. We found out that Jerry Cygan
(occasionally) feels a need for speed and was presented a t-shirt and a snack
box that claims him to be Awesome and with Lightning Speed. Also, we found
out that Jon Cooper once shared his trunk snacks (Hostess Twinkies) with his
fellow club members when they were in dire need of an afternoon snack. So,
we returned Jon the favor by giving him back (9) boxes of Twinkies to him.
It was a great
time to visit
and reminisce
about our
events for the
first-half of
the year. It
was nice to
meet new
friends and
guests!

Everyone caught up with car shows and events

Go Lil Camaro
by The
Ramones:
Uumamamaupapaumamau! Like
most of the
Ramones songs, its so simple that its
genius. This is the band that had a
large hand in changing the sound of
rock and roll forever, and they
continued that trend with this songs
release in 1987. Girls, cars, sun and
fun means good fun for everyone.
Best Lyric: Go lil Camaro go,
Oohhh!
Red
Barchetta,
Rush: Released in
1981, not only is
this song about a
fellow who finds
his uncle hid an
old red Fiat Barchetta in a barn, but it
also reveals the fears of car lovers
everywhere as motor laws change.
Set in the future, this tune takes place
in a world where stringent safety
regulations force cars to evolve into
massive modern safety vehicles,
making poor little sports cars like the
classic Barchetta illegal to drive on
the roads.
Best Lyric: I fire up the willing engine,
responding with a roar.Tires spitting
gravel, I commit my weekly crime.
Mercury Blues, The Steve
Miller Band: Originally titled
Mercury Boogie, this song was first
written in 1948 by K. C. Douglas and
Robert Geddins. There have been
several covers, but in 1976, the Steve
Miller Bands bluesy, soulful rock style
