Description:
Thisistheentrylevel,hourlypositionintheGISseries.Performstechnicalworkinaddressgeocoding,computeraidedmapping,avarietyofdatabasecompilation
andmaintenance,CADorotherrelatedareasunderthesupervisionofotherGISstaff.Thisisatechnicalpositionrequiringknowledgeofcomputersystem
operations,databasesystemsandcomputeraideddrafting.Collects,compiles,maintainsandupdatesdepartmentalgeographicinformation.Verifiesaddress
relatedorotherdatabaserelatedinformationthroughresearchingexistingrecordsandfieldchecks.Conductsqualityassuranceofthedatapreparedforentryinto
geographicinformationsystem.Utilizingtrigonometricandalgebraicconcepts,measuresandadjustsstateplanecoordinates,tomaintainandupdateGIScoverage.
Utilizesavarietyofinputdevicesforinputtingmappingandtabularinformationintoageographicinformationsystem,includingcoordinategeometrycoordinate
adjustmentsoftware.Interpretsmaps,platsandsurveyrecordstodevelopmapoverlays.Preparesbasicmapsandtabularreportsusingplottersandotheroutput
devices.ProvidesmappinganddepartmentalGISrelatedinformationtootherCitydepartmentsandoutsideagencies,andassistsininterpretingtherequested
information.Participatesintheaccuratecompletion,calculation,verificationcoding,entryandcrosscheckingPerformsotherdutiesasrequired.

MinimumQualifications:
Graduationfromhighschoolorequivalency,includingcourseworkintrigonometryand/oralgebra,andtwoyearsofexperienceinoneormoreofthefollowingareas:
computeraideddesignanddrafting,GIS,surveyingorcomputerdataentry.Twoyearsposthighschooltrainingincivilengineering,computerscience,GIS,surveying
orarelatedfieldmaybesubstitutedfortwoyears'workexperience.
AbilitytooperatecomputersandbasicfamiliaritywithAutoCADandArcView.Familiaritywithbasicsurveyingmethodsandtechniques.
Abilitytoworkwellwithcoworkers,supervisors,otheragenciesandthegeneralpublicunderavarietyofcircumstances.
PossessionofavalidUtahdriver'slicenseordrivingprivilegecardandabilitytoworkunconventionalhoursandovertimewhenrequired.
