Design Statement
We all have the ability to design and create. But what
makes a design turn from an idea in our mind to a creation
in our hands is the artist. Our family roots and what we
surround our selves with shapes who we are. We are all
different. Its a fact and its those who embrace it that have
peerless designs and natural creativity. It is through my art
that I show who I am and where I come from.
I have always been interested in the small parts that make
up an elaborate design. I have found that my eyes fall to
the details of material and texture while studying how they
correlate and compliment each other. To create these
elements of design in my own creations I look towards
nature for inspiration. I have always felt that the constantly
changing environment around us can be an endless
resource to bringing unique components to designs across
the board. I am very interested in creating small parts of
design that still give a significant impact on an entire
creation. From the fabric on a chair that is made from single
strands of fiber but seen all the way across a room.
It is the big picture that is made of tiny details that keeps me eager to
continue designing a future that is true to who I am.

Assignment:
Simple floor plans can teach a beginner the very basics of structure and
form. Along with this they educate
you on basic drawing skills and how
you convey your pencil marks to
make a coherent idea that can be expressed to an audience with a strong
impact.

Assignment: Draw the floor plan of the Jesolo
Lido Pool Vila and focus on the importance of
line weight.
Line weight allows for a more legiable
floor plan. Thicker line weights can
represent parts of a desgin that are
meant to be more concret while thinner line weights represent less permanent objects. For example, support
walls are represented by a thickest line
weight to show structual importance
and the cut plane.
B/ Photograph from Archdaily.com captures the back pool villa and the grand
glass windows that allow a graceful
flow between the exterior and interior of
this home. The home shows how fluid
a living space can be with an open floor
plan that has a privacy wing for the
living quarters.

Throughout this class I learned an extraordinary amount about the process of conveying a design
in an informative and clear way. I have found you must find the balance between freedom and
structure if you want a design to be executed correctly. As a furniture designer I have found that
even though the focus was architectural studies all the same technicalities still apply to any design
that must be built.
