Performance Data

NOTES :
0, 221/2 ,45 are spreading angles (deflection settings).
Throw is given in feet for 50 fpm terminal velocity.
Static pressure drop is in inches W.G. for single deflection register with fully opened damper.
Room effect is the difference between the sound power level of a terminal device and the sound
pressure level sensed by human ears in the room, and is affected by: Room size, sound absorption
characteristic of the room surfaces, ceiling height, space volume, distance of listener to terminal
location and number of terminals.
The basic NC levels given in the tables of performance data are based on 10-db room absorption
All NC, static pressure and AK values given are for single deflection register with fully opened damper
and at zero degree of deflection.

AIR BALANCING PROCEDURE

12
13

Use measuring tools for air velocity like

ALNOR 2220 A tip or 2220 probe, or anemothern air meter.
Take number of measuring points (should be not less than 4)
with the probe so located and adjusted as to measure the maximum air
velocity to the air flow direction on the face of the grille as shown.
Calculate the average measured velocity by using:

V (average) =

(V1+V2+. +Vk)
K

Determine the area factor Ak from the performance data tables

considering the proper size
Calculate CFM:
CFM = Ak x Vk (Average effective velocity)

The sketches A to H shown on this page should be read against the chart shown below to determine the
number of screw holes on any selected grille. Note that a rigid construction of large size grilles is achieved
through the addition of a U-beam (shown on the sketches) whenever the grille size exceeds multiples of 18
inches.

ACCESSORIES FOR GRILLES & REGISTERS

Square to Round Adapter - AD

Equalizing Grid - EG

14
15

Opposed Blade Damper

for Square & Rectangular necks - OBD

The AD is designed as a transition adaptor permitting the attachment of round flexible or rigid duct
to a square neck diffuser.
Galvanized steel construction. Powder coating paint is optional.

Accessories

CURVED BLADE CEILING GRILLES & REGISTERS

GENERAL
DASCO curved blade-ceiling grilles and registers
are made from extruded aluminium construction
with anodized finish. The curved blades are
individually adjustable and offer maximum air pattern
and control.

Curved Blade Grille - 2 way deflection (DG - 16C - 2W)

Curved Blade Grille - 4 way deflection (DG - 16C - 4W)

The blades are fitted in to nylon bushings, providing

noise proof performance. The curved blades are
individually adjustable allowing any degree of
deflection, in 1 way, 2 ways 3 ways or 4 ways pattern.
The air pattern can be adjusted in any direction, by
setting the curved blades to the desired angle. The
grilles will be supplied with opposed blade volume
control dampers, to control the flow rate. The grilles
are available with a curved back frame or flat flanged
frame.

The types of frames are to be specified by using model No. of frame as, curved back frame (ordinary frame)
CF or flanged frame as FF.

RETURN AIR GRILLES & REGISTERS

GENERAL
Dasco return air grilles & registers (DG-14 and DR14) are designed to suit HVAC applications where
a high side wall or exposed duct is required, they
are also used for adjusting air flow patterns of airconditioned spaces and yet with an architectural
and curved back frames.
Return Air Grille DG - 14H

DESCRIPTION

Return Air Register DR - 14H

Both models can be supplied with opposed blade

damper to control the air volume and are called
registers (DR-14H/V). The frame is an attractive
curved back type, however, it can be supplied in
flat type as optional. Rigid corner fasteners assure
a solid construction. Registers are provided with
opposed blade dampers with face-projected lever
for setting adjustment from the face of the grille
without any special tools. Return air grilles and
registers are also available with dcor frames specially
designed for decoration purposes.

DG-14 and DR-14 are multi parallel fixed blade

type. Blades have aerofoil sections and are fixed at
45 angle, which will allow smooth and uniform
airflow pattern for a quiet and low-pressure drop
applications. Grilles can be supplied in horizontal
blades (DG-14 H) or vertical blades (DG-14 V) and
the blades are slightly overlapped to prevent any
see-through.

MATERIAL & FINISH

High quality 1.5mm thick extruded aluminium in matt silver anodized finish for blades & frame. Plastic profiles
used for holding blades in position. White electrostatic polyester powder coating finish is available as a
standard. Other RAL standard colours are also available upon request. Gaskets are provided when specified
as optional. Dampers are of extruded aluminium construction.
