MOTION IN PLANE

When a body moves in a plane (x y or y z or x-z) or (x y z ), then the motion as composed of

different velocities separately in x as Vx, in y as Vy and in zas Vz .
Ex : If a body moves in (x-y) plane : It will have a definite velocity in x & in y axis.

Projectile : Projectile is the name given to a body thrown with some initial velocity and then allowed to
fall freely under the action of gravity. The Motion so called is Projectile Motion.
Important Note : Under projectile motion, the acceleration due to gravity acts in vertically downward
direction. There is no acceleration in x axis (Horizontal direction).
Example :

(a) A bullet fired from rifle.

(b) A bomb released from aeroplane.

Conditions : (a) The effect of frictional force due to air is taken negligible.
(b) The acceleration due to gravity (g) is taken constant.
