A closer look
Supporting digital imaging devices which are driven by external and embedded
EFI Fiery controllers (hereafter referred to as EFI Fiery Output devices)
Creating a color-managed PS file which deactivates the color management on
the Fiery
Professional color control and output on EFI Fiery Output devices via EFI
Colorproof XF
Combined with EFI Fiery Option the intuitive, easy-to-use and modular EFI
Colorproof XF plus product options enables users of EFI Fiery Output devices to
manage, control and verify color with one application and without the need for
third party applications
Maximum profit of color capabilities of EFI Fiery Output devices
Users can easily realize and control multi-printer environments via a consistent
color management workflow for contract and content proofing and production
by simultaneously driving DOD inkjet printers and EFI Fiery Output devices with
EFI Colorproof XF
Print to send jobs to EFI Fiery Output device and print them automatically
Hold to send jobs to EFI Output devices and keep them in the hold queue of
the Command WorkStation
Direct to send jobs to EFI Fiery Output device, print and delete them
automatically without saving or displaying them in the Command WorkStation
If there is no specific queue name the jobs will be sent to the Print queue
Both the Fiery calibration and the EFI Colorproof XF linearization put a device into a reproducible state. The special
combination of EFI Colorproof XF and EFI Fiery Output device requires that both are created, first the calibration of the Fiery
and based on that the EFI Colorproof XF linearization which enables to create a paper profile.
The benefit of this combination is that there is only one step needed to get all paper profiles re-calibrated at once. The
calibration of the EFI Colorproof XF Fiery Output device affects all paper profiles, the Fiery paper profiles and the EFI
Colorproof XF paper profiles. Otherwise every single EFI Colorproof XF paper profile would have to be relinearized separately.
Can I use third party profiling software (e.g. EFI Color Profiler) to create ICC paper profiles?
This base linearization defines the toner limit, linearizes the device and puts it into a reproducible state
What is the difference between the EFI Colorproof XF linearization (epl) and the Fiery calibration and why do
we need both?
No, EFI Colorproof XF ICC paper profiles are based on a base linearization file (epl). ICC profiles for the Fiery do not have a
base linearization (epl) and it is not possible to create this file afterwards
Changing the general color settings on the Command WorkStation does not affect the quality of the EFI Colorproof XF PS file
Can I use the ICC profiles created for EFI Fiery Output devices as ICC paper profiles with EFI Colorproof XF?
Changing the settings for a single EFI Colorproof XF job by opening the Job Properties, changing the color settings on the
Command WorkStation and saving the changes will affect the quality because a second color management is applied, which
makes the result unusable
Yes, besides the EFI Colorproof XF Color Manager, it is possible to use the standard EFI Colorproof XF tool EFI Lintool to
creates the epl, based on that a third party software (e.g. EFI Color Profiler) can be used to create the ICC profile.
What happens if I combine the EFI Colorproof XF job with other files on the Fiery?
Combining an EFI Colorproof XF job with other jobs in the Command WorkStation means that a new file is created which will
affect the quality and because a second color management is applied to the EFI Colorproof XF job, which makes the result
unusable.
