Weiss Klimatechnik relies on energy-saving

Digital Scroll Technology
An air-conditioning systems energy consumption is largely weather dependent. At the same
time, the cooling output of a unit is usually selected for those periods of the year which are most
critical as regards temperature but which are only very short in Germany. For this reason, most
air conditioning systems are only operated at full load for a fraction of their operating period
and, as a result, they are overdimensioned.

valve as required. This does not only lead to a reduction in
the switching frequency and, as a result, to a longer service
life of the refrigerating plant. Moreover, significant energy
savings can be generated this way.

ESC Energy Save Control

In reduced outdoor temperatures, the ESC control system provides a reduced
condensation temperature. This reduces the power consumption and, as a result,
the run time of the compressors. ESC permits operation with high COP values.

flow channel which, in turn, leads to higher efficiency and
extremely low noise emissions.
Moreover, the motor heat management is also designed
optimally. The stator is fully enclosed in a high-performance
plastic material. Air inlets in the rotor ensure perfect heating
of the motor, which again significantly increases efficiency.
In terms of efficiency, the fans today by far exceed the EuP
directive for electrically driven fans which will be required by
law soon.

deltaclima SMART

deltaclima SMART
The compact cooling device with direct free cooling

Energy-efficient, ready-to-plug-in and flexible

When planning and installing telecommunication stations, server rooms and container solutions for computer centres, it is important to house maximum computing capacity in the
smallest possible space which increases the thermal load. In addition, the sensitive units are
installed under critical on-site conditions where no external installation can be realised.
These critical conditions also present high challenges for the cooling equipment. For this
reason, a compact, efficient and reliable solution is needed, which produces a maximum
capacity irrespective of the outdoor temperatures while being energy and cost efficient.

13

deltaclima SMART

An intelligent solution for rooms of all sizes

Due to its compact design, the deltaclima SMART can be optimally integrated into existing
space concepts and fits into even the smallest of rooms. In addition, the only requirement is
a minimum clearance of only 50 cm each to the wall or the nearest other device. Due to this fact,
a scaling to the total capacity can be realised in even very small rooms without any problems
with the deltaclima SMART. Another benefit of the deltaclima SMART: The supply air can
either be blown into a double floor or directly from the front side of the device which creates
even more flexibility.

deltaclima SMART

An intelligent technology for cool computers

The compact cooling device deltaclima SMART combines our proven cooling technology with
innovative features which create maximum variability and power output even under very challenging conditions. The core piece is a new, power-controlled cooling compressor with a digital
control system which allows the infinitely variable adaptation of the required cooling capacity.
Four operating modes for maximum efficiency
The deltaclima SMART is equipped with four individual
operating modes which are activated automatically by the
device depending on the ambient temperature. This way,
the system is always using the most energy-efficient mode
while creating maximum cooling capacity.
As a result of the intelligent control system, the benefits
of a free exterior air cooling with the effectiveness of a
circulating air cooling are combined in one unit for the first
time, thus ensuring that the system is protected from thermal loads at all times. Even during hot phases, the cooling
system will always work at low operating costs. Due to its
innovative technology the deltaclima SMART offers huge
possible energy savings.

Smart cooling in the smallest of rooms

With our deltaclima SMART compact cooling device we
offer you an extremely flexible, energy-efficient and spacesaving system which optimally fulfils the requirements
specified and which, at the same time, provide maximum
cost-effectiveness both in terms of costs of acquisition
and of operating costs.
With a variable capacity of 4 to14 kW per unit (which can
be expanded to a randomly scalable total capacity), deltaclima SMART forms the perfect solution in diverse fields
of application. On account of the ready-to-plug-in design of
the device, its installation is extremely easy and permits a
high degree of flexibility. Discover the clever way of ensuring a good climate with the deltaclima SMART!

deltaclima CoolWall

deltaclima CoolWall
Greater performance, lower energy consumption, greater flexibility, lower space requirement

The requirements which computer centres need to meet are continually growing.
Increasing quantities of data and ever expanding capacities mean that computer rooms
need continually expanding cooling capacities. This leads to an increase in energy costs
and, frequently, associated shortages of space. The required cooling capacity is no longer
achieved in extreme cases.

89

deltaclima CoolWall

Perfect air-conditioning for your computer centre

The deltaclima CoolWall from Weiss Klimatechnik GmbH represents an intelligent
solution for computer rooms of all sizes. The flexible, high-output and energy-saving
system is recommended for both new installations and as a retrofitting solution.
A reliable principle
The deltaclima CoolWall works in the same manner as an

A sensible investment for your company

Save energy
Cooling of the computer room can be precisely controlled
through the design of the heat exchanger and number of
fans. The drastic reduction in internal pressure losses is
achieved as a consequence, resulting in a considerable drop
in energy consumption when compared to air-conditioning
cabinets. And the larger the cooling capacity required, the
greater the saving achieved. Investment costs are, in any
case, lower than the new installation of precision air-conditioner units.
Create the space you need
The complete dispensing with air-conditioning cabinets
means that considerably more space is available, and capacities can also be expanded without difficulty in existing
space concepts. The outlay for the installation of the deltaclima CoolWall is roughly equivalent to that of conventional air-conditioner units.
The deltaclima CoolWall principle

required air flow is established behind the cooling wall.

The deltaclima CoolWall consists of a wall with a cooling

They force and filter the hot air out of the computer room

and filter module encompassing a separate control and

through the cooling wall, conveying the cold air through the

special energy-saving EC fans. The fans ensure that the

double floor back to the racks. In the contrary layout, the

air flow selectively expels hot air through the double floor
and feeds in cold air through the cooling wall.
The generous heat exchange surfaces mean that higher
water temperatures can also be used. This enables the
extended exploitation of external air during operation with
indirect free cooling.
The deltaclima CoolWall can be integrated in the existing
cold water mains network without difficulty.

Perfect for any room architecture

The deltaclima CoolWall not only represents a space-saving solution because an air-conditioning
cabinet is no longer required. Its installation is also completely flexible and, consequently, can
be adapted to suit any room architecture. Different layouts can, in principle, be realised in all
conceivable variants and dimensions.
The cooling surfaces of the deltaclima CoolWall consist of
modular components in two sizes (2,400 mm x 1,200 mm
and 2,400 mm x 1,800 mm). This means that the entire wall
surface of every computer room can be fitted, regardless of
the room size.

deltachiller Turbo

deltachiller Turbo
The efficient cooling technology for servers and IT

With the deltachiller Turbo Weiss provides an innovative cooling system which
universally fulfils the customers diverse requirements. The Turbo is impressive,
in particular, on account of its high reliability, individual scalability and welcome
cost effectiveness. Its intelligent design enables it, in particular, to cool the IT
and server technology.

101

deltachiller Turbo

Perfect cooling with innovative technology

The deltachiller Turbo offers the right output level for every field of application. The modular
structure of the compressor ensures a high scalability. It can optionally be executed with air or
water cooling and, as a result, it can be installed indoors or outdoors. The stepless control of
the refrigeration technology dynamically adjusts to the respective current output requirements
during on-going operation. Moreover, the deltachiller Turbo can excellently be integrated into
existing systems.

Superior in every respect

Operating noises are undesirable, in particular, if the system is installed indoors. For this
reason, the deltachiller Turbo is equipped
with a magnetically suspended and touch-free
compressor technology. This way, noteworthy
mechanical vibrations are not created. As a
result, the sound level is extremely low and
additional constructional measures for sound
protection can usually be dispensed with in
their entirety.
Project-specific plant manager
The integrated control system having the form of an
industry-adjusted control unit ensuring the efficient operation of the refrigerating unit forms the core of the deltachiller Turbo.
deltachiller Turbo (water-cooled unit)
A superior control unit in a separate control cabinet is
required for interconnected operation on the part of the
refrigerating machine. The cold manager has the task of
controlling the optimum operating point for group-focused

pumps for the cold- and cooling-water-side media circulation or the free cooling function can be integrated into
performance optimisation and the overall system works
even more energy efficiently with a project-specific plant
manager.
Oil free is carefree
A special feature of the deltachiller Turbo is its oil-free operation. This form of operation entails several advantages.
Of course, it reduces the maintenance effort required, which
saves times and money. This is due to the simple fact that
oil does not have to be provided and, as a result, disposed
of. Moreover, compared with refrigerating systems using oil,
such as e.g. screw compressor units, the annual efficiency
is better without an oil pump. And, finally, the strict rules of
the German Water Resources Act do not apply if the system
is oil-free.

The system optionally withdraws energy from the soil,

directly via a closed heating circuit.

Therefore, as a heat pump, the deltachiller Turbo
provides an interesting alternative to the usual heating

The Weiss Service Concept

We increase efficiency and you can

save energy and costs
Plant optimisation is used to improve and ensure the performance, energy efficiency and
operational reliability in the long run. To this end, Weiss optimises its own systems which
have been used for some time as well as other manufacturers products. As a result, we offer
our customers individual service concepts which are specifically tailored to their individual
circumstances and requirements. Continuous quality assurance forms part of these service
concepts. It comprises the continuous monitoring, maintenance in keeping with applicable
intervals and modernisation in line with the requirements.
Any plant optimisation is based on detailed stock taking.

components and assume the task of fine tuning the interactions between these.

113

The Weiss Service Concept

We are motivated by cost effectiveness

The drive accounts for the biggest share in the total energy demand.
As a result, it also provides the biggest saving potential. Retrofitting,
for example with the help of frequency converters is comparatively
easy, while the effect of such modernisations is tremendous: Directly
driven EC motors or directly driven motors with frequency converters
are much more effective than the V-belt drives which have been used
for a long time. Efficiency can be improved from approximately 35% to
up to 60%.
Intelligent power and cost control
The intelligent control technology by Weiss can dynamically control
the volume flow. It adjusts the air quantity and the cooling output to
changing room conditions in line with the respective demand. To this
end, our service teams rely on presence sensors as well as air quality
and room temperature sensors. Switching from outside air to circulating air operation compensates even extreme weather conditions.
Moreover, just one filter stage is sufficient because the volume flow is
continuously adjusted to the filter soiling level. This contributes to a
reduction in on-going costs and maintenance expenses.
Naturally on the safe side
With the individual service provided by Weiss, environmental protection and cost effectiveness go hand in hand. As a result, ecologically
sensible investments also pay off in terms of cost effectiveness at all
times.
Energy inspections are prescribed at certain intervals any way and
Weiss is authorised to carry out such inspections pursuant to the German Energy Saving Ordinance. In this capacity, we recommend sensible
measures for improving energy efficiency properties and also issue the
energy performance certificates. As a result, you automatically fulfil
the statutory requirements as per EnEV (Energy Saving Ordinance)
and the Renewable Energy Heat Act. At the same time, you will reduce
your energy demand in the short run and will, in particular, generate
significant savings in operating costs in the long run in view of increasing energy prices.
Furthermore, we are pleased to advise you on possible subsidies from
public funds and, specifically, as regards investment grants by the
Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). This generates
concrete savings, the required operational reliability and legal security
as well as an image improvement, which is difficult to quantify. As a
result, plant optimisation by Weiss gives you comprehensive competitive advantages.

The Weiss Service Concept

Hygiene
The VID guideline 6022 governing hygiene requirements
for ventilation and air-conditioning systems applies to
all air-conditioned commercial rooms in which people are
present. This also includes the mandatory regular hygiene
examinations as per Art. 3 of the German Workplaces Ordinance. Weiss carries out these inspections in a quick, simple
and legally secure manner in accordance with the latest
standards and issues the corresponding certificates.

Customer training courses and workshops

Upon request, your operating staff can be trained by competent experts in all fields of refrigerating and air-conditioning technology. Furthermore, we offer training courses
regarding control technology and engineering as well as
hygiene training courses as per VDI 6022 (type A+B).
These training courses can be carried out at our corporate
training centre or on site at your facility. In addition to
the transfer of theoretical knowledge, the content of the
workshops is extended with the help of case studies and
practical approaches to solving problems.
The content and the duration of the training courses are
tailored to your wishes and requirements. We, of course,
advice you on all questions and would be pleased to submit
a corresponding offer to you.
