6th Grade Math Minutes

Chapter 1
Whole Numbers and Decimals
Throughout the next few weeks, our math class will be learning
about division, multiples, and factors. We will also be learning how
to operate with decimals. You can expect to see homework that
involves addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of
decimals.

New vocabulary for this unit

Greatest Common Factor (GCF) The greatest factor that two

or more numbers have in common.

Least Common Multiple (LCM) The least number that is a

common multiple of two or more whole numbers.

Prime Factorization A number written as a product of all of its

prime numbers.

We are also working with common factor, compatible numbers,

decimal, dividend, divisor, prime number, and quotient. Your
student should be familiar with all of these terms.

This unit began on August 29th

and will be tested on September 13th.
