Ralph Gerald R. Galvez wrote about his idol, Enrique Gil. He first became aware of Enrique through his roles in television shows like Princess and I. Though not from a family of artists, Enrique worked hard through commercials and workshops to build his career. He has appeared in many movies and television shows. Ralph admires how Enrique advocates for causes like helping the captive elephant Mali. While Enrique may face criticism, Ralph supports him as an inspiration who persevered through hard work.

Enrique Gil: A Knight in Sweat Pants and White Shirt
All of us have dreams, have idols, and have persons that we look up to. Mine tend to be Enrique Mari Bacay Gil V, commonly known as Enrique Gil, a young man born on March 30, 1992 by loving parents Enrique Amadeo III and Barbara Anne. He is second among three siblings. I first started knowing about Enrique Gil when I saw him in the primetime series, Princess and I, co-starred by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Enrique is not just an artist, but a very good one for that matter. He is also a dancer; I imitate his moves every time I saw him on ASAP. He appeared on different television series which I was not aware of because when these shows were airing I was not yet interested because I was so young. The thing about Enrique is not just his talents but his attitude in handling things and issues. Enrique is not from any clans of big artists, his parents used to work for Philippine Airlines. His mother was a flight stewardess while his late dad was a pilot. The pedestal he was on now was not because of any star introducing him to various directors or talent scouts but because of his perseverance and effort. At a young age, Enrique submitted himself to queues to various commercials and tv productions. He started acting in the summer of 2008, he enrolled in commercial modeling and musical theater workshops conducted by Trumpets. And his career started to boom. He appeared on movies such as Shes the One, Pieta he Strangers, Must Be... Love, The Trial and lead roles in movies Just the Way You Are, Everyday I Love You and Dukot. He was not just a man of a good face and talent but I admire him more because he joined the PETA campaign, Free Mali. Mali is the only captive elephant in the Philippines and has been held in captive for the majority of her life. The campaign seeks to transfer the elephant to Boon Lotts Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand from Manila Zoo. His concern for the nature and environment is endearing, giving me more reasons to adore and idolized someone like him. He may not be a perfect person; he may appear in the news headlines with lots of issues and accused him of doing things, but for me, Enrique Gil is enough. Nobodys perfect and people has to live with that. I stand with Enrique Gil. I will support him because for me, he is such an inspiration, that it takes sweat and hard work to give the world your best. Perseverance is the key not just to your careers success but also a key in giving your parents the best version of you.
