Chapter 1

Statement of the Problem

I the investigator wishes to find out How has youth unemployment affected residents of LaFargue Choiseul
Objectives:
The investigator hopes to:
1. State the approximate number of unemployed young people.
2. Determine the reasons for being unemployed.
3. Describe how the unemployment of people has affected the community.
4. Suggest ways to solve or reduce the number of unemployed young people in LaFargue Choiseul.

Chapter 2
Reason for Selecting the Area Of Research
Unemployment is a person without a job. In my investigation I am focusing on youth
unemployment. It is a big problem in my area of La-Fargue Choiseul and I, the investigator,
wishes to find out how it affects young people in particular.
The investigator has observed that there is a correlation between youth unemployment
and crime rates. It has been observed that young people join gangs that pay them to take part
in illegal activities for example robberies and drug dealings. They also join gangs to feel a
sense of belonging. Secondly, youth unemployment has a physiological effect at the
beginning of career which can lead to a general loss of confidence and a lower self-esteem of
the individual. If they are turned down more than once they will eventually lose hope.
However, there are different ways to help alleviate the problem. Firstly, the
government can put in place more internship programmes. Secondly, the private sector should
hire fewer foreigners and leave job openings to citizens of the country. Lastly, private sectors
can also expand their businesses to create more jobs.
The investigator wants to investigate why young persons are not working and how
they cope with the issue.

Chapter 3
Method of Investigation
The investigator has chosen the questionnaire as a method of research.
According to Wikipedia a questionnaire is a research instrument consisting of a series of
questions and other prompts for the purpose of gathering information from respondents.
The questionnaire consists of bio questions as well as open and close ended data
questions. The investigators chose this method because it allows the investigator to be carried
out with limited effects to validity as well as reliability. Also, using a questionnaire can
enable the investigator to collect a large amount of information from a large group of people
in a short period of time.
When responding to a questionnaire people may interpret questions differently and
answer questions based on interpretation. It can be said that there is a level of subjectivity
that is not acknowledged. A questionnaire has limitations but is more advantageous than other
methods of investigation.
