INTRODUCTION
Human resource management (HRM or simply HR) is the management of human resources. It
is a function in organizations designed to maximize employee performance in service of an
employer's strategic objectives.[1] HR is primarily concerned with the management of people
within organizations, focusing on policies and on systems.[2] HR departments and units in
organizations typically undertake a number of activities, including employee benefits design,
employee recruitment, "training and development",performance appraisal, and rewarding (e.g.,
managing pay and benefit systems).[3] HR also concerns itself with organizational change
and industrial relations, that is, the balancing of organizational practices with requirements
arising from coHuman Resources is a business field focused on maximizing employee
productivity. Human Resources professionals manage the human capital of an organization and
focus on implementing policies and processes. They can be specialists focusing in on recruiting,
training, employee relations or benefits. Recruiting specialists are in charge of finding and hiring
top talent. Training and development professionals ensure that employees are trained and have
continuous development. This is done through training programs, performance evaluations and
reward programs. Employee relations deals with concerns of employees when policies are
broken, such as harassment or discrimination. Someone in benefits develops compensation
structures, family leave programs, discounts and other benefits that employees can get. On the
other side of the field are Human Resources Generalists or Business Partners. These human
resources professionals could work in all areas or be labor relations representatives working with
unionized employees.

Improve performance. Training & Development is any attempt to improve current or


future employee performance by increasing an employee's ability to perform through
learning, usually by changing the employee's attitude or increasing his or her skills and
knowledge

My project topic is To Study the Effectiveness of the Training & Development Policy in
Wockhardt Hospitals. This topic interested me as training is route to improve effectiveness.
The scope of training is no longer limited to develop knowledge & competencies in individuals.
This topic gave me an opportunity to study how the training programmes are planned effectively
delivered. Training is such an activity that needs to be evaluated continuously in order to know
the success of the training programmers. It is always a question before the management, whether
the training programme has achieved its objective. My project is an effort towards these factfindings.
Training and development play vital role in any given organizations in the modern day. It is
aimed at preparing employees for future or current jobs. The efficiency and productivity of the
firm can be increased considerably with right training methods. This is the reason why HR
department give. Training such a huge importance. So it is essential that we conduct study and
experiment s to improvise our training methods.
The motive behind this study is to understand the effectiveness of training and development
programs on the employee Of Wockhardt Hospital, Nagpur.
The training cannot be measured directly but the change in attitude and behavior that occurs as a
result of training. By studying and analyzing the response of employee. Regarding training, we
can make scientific conclusions, which is the core idea of this study.

NEED FOR THE STUDY


Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for doing a particular
job. It utilizes a systematic and organized procedure by which employee learns Technical
knowledge and skills. Training refers to the teaching and learning activities carried on for the
primary, purpose of helping members of an organization.
Training is closely related with education and development but needs to be differentiated from
the terms. It is aimed at improving the behavior and performance of a person.
Training is a continuous and life long process. Training provides an atmosphere of sharing
synthesizing with the help of the trainers, the information already available on the subject.

SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

The development of any organization depends on its employees. For organizational productivity
training and development assumes great significance. Training aims at incasing the knowledge
and skill of the employee whereas organizational development on the other hand refers to
overall improvement of the organization such as its structure, objective, Policies and procedures
including managers and employee. Organizational development can be achieved by hiring the
service of the professionals consultants. Training and development programs are often viewed
as part of organizational development.
A better knowledge about these things can facilitate the trainer as well as the trainee in
conducting and benefiting from the training But training being a very complex process make it a
bit difficult. So the best way to achieve it is by studying and analyzing the feedback of
employees as well as managers. The project includes collecting information from staffs of
Wockhardt Hospital, Nagpur, analyzing it, interpreting it, and concluding useful suggestions
from it.

This will help the management to know the efficiency of their training programs as well
as the satisfaction level of employee and thus take necessary managerial decisions.
The inferences made out of the project can help the employer and employee to contribute

for the better training facilities.


Any training and development program should meet both primary and secondary
objectives of the organization. The study will give light in the designing of better training
programs aiming solely at the desired results.

Company Profile:

Wockhardt Hospitals are one of the tertiary care, super speciality healthcare networks
in India offering healthcare services. The chain of hospitals is owned by the parent
company Wockhardt Ltd., India's 5th largest Pharmaceutical and Healthcare company
with a presence in 20 countries across the globe. Wockhardt hospitals, originally called
First hospitals and Heart Institute, were one of the early movers among corporate healthcare chains in India. The company was established in 1989 and it started its first
operations with a medical center in Kolkata, 1989 and a heart hospital in Bangalore two
years later. Today the company has its presence acrossIndia with 9 multi speciality
hospital networks.[1]
Hospitals was incorporated on 28 August 1991 under the Companies Act, 1956 as a
public limited company. The Company was originally named First Hospitals and Heart
Institute Limited. On 11 September 2000 the name was changed to Wockhardt Health
Sciences Limited and subsequently on 19 October 2000 the name was changed to
Wockhardt Hospitals Limited.

1) To study The methods used in training the employee


2) To analyse weather the employee satisfied with their current training methods
3) To know the relevance And significance Of different training and development
program in hospital industry
4) To find the way for making training program more effective and interesting
5) To gain practical knowledge about training evaluation
6) To replace the flaws or problem ( if any) that abstracts the Training program for
achieving the objectives for which training is provided

Hypothesis:

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information on a specific topic. In fact, research is

effort to gain new knowledge.

is actually a voyage of discovery. We all possess the vital instinct of inquisitivenessfor, when the
unknown confronts us, we wonder and our inquisitiveness makes us probe and attainfull and
fuller understanding of the unknown. This inquisitiveness is the mother of all knowledge andthe
method, which man employs for obtaining the knowledge of whatever the unknown, can as
research.

Expected Contribution :
The project will help to study the HR policies of the company.it will help the management to
decide whether the HR policies adopted by the company satisfactory or what.
It will suggest the management to understand the satisfaction level of the employees if it is what
up to the standards of the company then the HR head will have to make necessary changes.
