1. INTRODUCTION
Skull and Bones
Located in UP Town Center, Skull and Bones is the perfect place to remind one of college
memories. With its university-esque ambiance and memorabilia, it may remind its diners of what it
is like to live in university while still pulling off a very modern look. It is not only a place wherein
friends can hangout and have fun, the free Wi-Fi also allows this place to be a perfect spot for
one to finish their work. Its wide selection of food, ranging from the classic burgers and fries to
unique takes on nachos, burritos and mac and cheese, does not disappoint as it guarantees that
the customers have a lot of choices to choose from. Aside from also offering alcoholic beverages,
the place also offers its customers to take part in classic drinking games to maximize enjoyment.
Aside from all of this, due to it being located in UP Town Center, a mall up-and-coming in its
popularity, the place is ideally accessible to all. Not many places have what Skull and Bones has
to offer, which makes this place a great spot for friends of any age to eat and have fun.
2. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The rationale of the study would be beneficial for the business because information about
their typical customers spending trend would help the establishment improve itself. Its theme of
university nostalgia appeals to a lot of college students who miss the high school environment
and post-graduate students who miss the university vibe, and being located along Katipunan
helps in attracting its target market. Also, based on the research information being conducted, the
given information would help Skull and Bones prepare for days when there is high demand, which
is likely to happen. Thus, the research about buying behavior would help the establishment work
with its strengths and weaknesses both known and unknown leaving room for innovation and
improvement.
3. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM AND OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of this statistical study is to determine the buying behavior of the
customers at Skull and Bones in UP Town Center, Diliman, Quezon City. The group will get the
job done by doing the following:
1. Present the demographic information of customers from Skull and Bones. This includes
age, gender, marital status and socio-economic status.
2. Present data under which category the typical customer orders (burritos, burgers,
alcohol, etc), his/her average budget, number of companions, most prefered time of visit,
duration of visits and frequency of visits.
3. Determine if buying behavior is influenced by the demographic information and socioeconomic status.
4. Determine whether there is a relationship between occupation and frequency of visits.
5. Determine if there is a relationship between the typical customers number of companions
and budget.
6. Determine if the day of the week influences the number of alcohol beverages served.
4. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
As mentioned in the objectives, we will determine who and what exactly is the typical
customer of Skull and Bones and with that, we are limited to the customers we see and
encounter. Also, our method is limited to customers who have been to the restaurant at least once
prior to the encounter because the survey cannot be answered properly and completely if given to

a first timer. With this research, future studies about how efficient a restobar could attract its
target market better by comparing the popularity of Skull and Bones and other restaurants located
at UP Town Center.
5. METHODOLOGY
a. VARIABLES
age, gender, marital status, socioeconomic status(Income, Occupation), typical customer
orders, average budget range, usual/ prefered number of companions, prefered day to visit (only
if frequent visitor), frequency of visits per week and amount of alcohol served (each beverage
order)
(see survey below for values assigned)
b. DATA SOURCE/S
The sources of data that will be used will come from the survey that will be conducted.
This survey will target the customers of Skull and Bones. It will be given to them for answering
during their stay at the restaurant. This will be done by accompanying the survey with the
customers orders as they are served. It will then be up to the customers to answer the surveys by
the time they leave. The data gathering will be done for every customer of Skull and Bones for
around a month. All of the data will be obtained at the restaurant itself. Since the goal is to collect
data from all of the customers of Skull and Bones, the sampling method will simply be a sample
of all the customers of the restaurant, but only for one month.
The primary data that will be gathered will come from the surveys that will be conducted.
Most observations will be made based on the data gathered from this. Additional data will come
from operational databases from the company, such as a track on inventory.
c. STATISTICAL TOOLS
Specify the statistical tools will be used in order to answer each of the stated objectives. Indicate
the assumptions for each of the tools that will be used, if ever there are any.
We are going to use a Bar graph to present statistics on age, typical customer orders,
day of the week, amount of alcohol served; Pie charts for gender, marital status , frequency of
visits per week; Box and whisker plot for socio economic status.
We are going to use ANOVA to know the relation of buying behavior from the
demographic information and socio-economic status, knowing the relationship of the occupation
of the participant and the frequency of visits, and determine if the day of the week has something
to do with the amount of alcohol beverages served.
