Is the Quran perfect?

Part 1 of 5
By The Logical Christian
Hello readers, my name is The Logical Christian. I
am a Christian Apologist and my specialty in apologetics is
answering Muslim Theology (Islam). In this 5-part series, I
am going to be demonstrating the unreliability of the
historical document known as the Quran. In this 1st
essay, I will be examining contradictions found within the
Islamic Holy Book.
First a question: What is a Contradiction? According
to Merriam Webster there are 2 definitions of a
contradiction.
1. The act of saying something that is opposite or very
different in meaning to something else.
2. A difference or disagreement between two things
which means that both cannot be true.
But for this essay the 2nd definition is the one that applies
to this present predicament. So without further ado lets

begin. Does the Quran contain contradictions? When you

read it carefully, the answer is yes.
Contradiction #1 Surah 8:9 and 3:123-124
-

These two verses were both referring to a battle

in Islamic history named The Battle of Badr
where Allah sent angels to help in the battle. But
however, they give us two different numbers of

angels that assisted in the battle.

- Surah 8:5-9 Just as when your Lord brought
you out of your home [for the battle of Badr]
in truth, while indeed, a party among the
believers were unwilling, arguing with you
concerning the truth after it had become
clear, as if they were being driven toward
death while they were looking on.
[Remember, O believers], when Allah
promised you one of the two groups - that it
would be yours - and you wished that the
unarmed one would be yours. But Allah
intended to establish the truth by His words
and to eliminate the disbelievers. That He

should establish the truth and abolish

falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it.
[Remember] when you asked help of your
Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will
reinforce you with a thousand from the
angels, following one another."
- So this verse when read in its historical context
is referring to The Battle of Badr. Verse number 9
says that 1,000 angels were sent to assist the
Muslims in the battle.
- Now what does Surah 3:123-124 say about the
battle? First lets go back a few verses to get its
historical context.
- Surah 3:121-124 And [remember] when you,
[O Muhammad], left your family in the
morning to post the believers at their stations
for the battle [of Uhud] - and Allah is Hearing
and Knowing -When two parties among you
were about to lose courage, but Allah was
their ally; and upon Allah the believers should
rely. And already had Allah given you victory
at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in

number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be

grateful. [Remember] when you said to the
believers, "Is it not sufficient for you that your
Lord should reinforce you with three
thousand angels sent down?
- So when this verse is read in its historical
context, it is also referring to the very same
historical event (The Battle of Badr). But this
verse says something different than the previous
verse mentioned. Surah 8:9 says ONE
THOUSAND angels assisted the Muslims, but
Surah 3:124 says that THREE THOUSAND
angels assisted the Muslims. So Allah, which one
is it? Did you send 1,000 angels? Or 3,000
angels?
Contradiction #2 Surah 2:29 and 79:27-30
-

These verses are both discussing the creation

of the Heavens and the Earth according to the
Quran. However we get different accounts of
which came first.

Surah 2:29 says It is He who created for you

all of that which is on the earth. Then He
directed Himself to the heaven, [His being
above all creation], and made them seven

heavens, and He is Knowing of all things.

- So this verse indicates that Allah created the
Earth first, and then he created the Heavens.
Now what does Surah 79:27-30 say?
- Are you a more difficult creation or is the
heaven? Allah constructed it. He raised its
ceiling and proportioned it. And He darkened
its night and extracted its brightness. And
after that He spread the earth.
- So both these passages are referring to the
creation account, but they give use different
versions of it. Surah 2:29 says that the EARTH
was created first, but Surah 79:27-30 says the
HEAVENS were created first. Which one is it?
The Heavens or the Earth?
- *Side note* 79:30 is not only a contradiction to
2:29, but its also a factual error. It says that the
earth was spread. The earth was created, but

science says that the earth was not spread. So

its both a contradiction and a scientific error.
Contradiction #3 Surah 3:94 and 6:101
- The Quran states that Allah is a Father to no
one.
- And (both) the Jews and the Christians say:
"We are the children of Allah and His loved
ones." Say: "Why then does He punish you
for your sins?" Nay, you are but human
beings, of those He has created, He forgives
whom He wills and He punishes whom He
wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of
the heavens and the earth and all that is
between them, and to Him is the return (of
all).
Surah 5:18
- Now why is this? Well lets discuss this further.
- Surah 39:1-4 The revelation of the Qur'an is
from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Indeed, we have sent down to you the Book,
[O Muhammad], in truth. So worship Allah,

[being] sincere to Him in religion.

Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion.
And those who take protectors besides Him
[say], "We only worship them that they may
bring us nearer to Allah in position." Indeed,
Allah will judge between them concerning
that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does
not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed]
disbeliever. If Allah had intended to take a
son, He could have chosen from what He
creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He
is Allah, the One, the Prevailing.
- So this verse clearly states that Allah CAN have
a son if we want. However, 6:101 doesnt seem
to agree.
- Surah 6: [He is] Originator of the heavens
and the earth. How could He have a son when
He does not have a companion and He
created all things? And He is, of all things,
Knowing.
- As Sam Shamoun of Jesus or Muhammad
states on the website titled Answering Islam.

Surah 39:4 and 6:101 agree on the actuality,

that Allah does not have a son, but they
contradict each other in the issue of ability or

possibility.
So what Sam is saying here is that while the
Quran doesnt internally contradict itself on the
fact that he DOESNT have a son. It internally
contradicts itself on the whether or not he CAN
have a son. So Muslims, can Allah have a son or
not?
Contradiction #4 Surah 19:67 and 15:26
- These verses are specified in identifying what
was created from by Allah. However, they
contradict each other on what Man was created
from.
- Surah 19:65-67 Lord of the heavens and the
earth and whatever is between them - so
worship Him and have patience for His
worship. Do you know of any similarity to
Him? And the disbeliever says, "When I have
died, am I going to be brought forth alive?

Does man not remember that We created him before,

while he was nothing?
- So these verses show that man was created
from nothing. Yet chapter 15 verse 26 of the
Quran says otherwise.
- Surah 15:25-26 And indeed, your Lord will
gather them; indeed, He is Wise and
Knowing. And We did certainly create man
out of clay from an altered black mud.
- These verses are both referring to what man
was made from when God designed the
universe, the earth, and his wonderful creatures.
However, Quran 19:67 says that man was
designed from NOTHING, but 15:26 says that he
was designed from CLAY. So which one is it?
Clay or Nothing?
- *Side Note* The Quran also says that man was
created from Dust in 3:59, and from Blood in
Surah 96:2. So the Quran actually contradicts
itself MORE than once on this subject.
Contradiction #5 Surah 4:48 and 4:153

- These verses are discussing the issue of Allahs

forgiveness of worship given to false gods. Does
Allah forgive or not forgive worship of false gods?
- Surah 4:47-48 O you who were given the
Scripture, believe in what We have sent down
[to Muhammad], confirming that which is with
you, before We obliterate faces and turn them
toward their backs or curse them as We
cursed the Sabbath-breakers. And ever is the
decree of Allah accomplished. Indeed, Allah
does not forgive association with Him, but He
forgives what is less than that for whom He
wills. And he who associates others with
Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous
sin.
- So Surah 4:48 says very clearly that Allah does
NOT forgive association with him, nor does he
forgive the worship of idols. Now what does
4:153 say about this?
- Surah 4:153 The People of the Scripture ask
you to bring down to them a book from the
heaven. But they had asked of Moses [even]

greater than that and said, "Show us Allah

outright," so the thunderbolt struck them for
their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf [for
worship] after clear evidences had come to
them, and We pardoned that. And We gave
Moses a clear authority.
- If Surah 4:48 is true, then these people should
not be pardoned for worshipping the calf that they
have created.
- *Side Note* This sin is whats known as Shirk.
Shirk is Islams version of Blasphemy. This
means to associate partners with Allah, or to give
worship to anyone or anything other than Allah.
Similar to The Bibles definition of blasphemy. But
however the Christians commit Shirk (at least
according how Islam portrays Christian beliefs)
by affirming the Trinitarian of God for example.
So that is why this is a massive contradiction.
This means that Shirk actually IS a forgivable sin.

Now of course there are more that can be listed here.

But it would take too long to go through every
contradiction within the Quran and the Islamic literature. If
you want more examples, I have links posted below
demonstrating more contradictions in more detail.
