THE LEADER VOICE

BELIEVE | ACHIEVE | LEAD

Farmers
Market

Wednesday, September 28th

For the past three weeks we have
been focusing on the economy in
Social Studies. In order to put into
practice the things that we have
learned, we will be going to the
Farmers Market in Kerrytown, Ann
Arbor this Wednesday to explore
first hand the concepts of supply
and demand, goods and services,
vendors and customers, and the
five characteristics of money. We
will be leaving at 9:00am and
returning at 2:00pm. Students
should bring their own lunch,
comfortable walking shoes, and no
more than $10 spending money
for the market. Were ready for the
first field trip of the year!

Student Success-Did You Know?
Did you know that many researchers agree on the top three
contributors to student success? Do you know what those
contributors are? Ill give you a hint. Homework is not one of
them. The top three contributors to student success are:!
1. Teacher/Students Relationship. When a student feels connected to
their classmates and teacher, they feel accountable for their
actions and are likely to be more engaged in learning.!
2. Parent Support. When students know that their parents and
family support and believe in them, students perform better in
the classroom, behaviorally and academically.!

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5TH

Wednesday, October 5th is Picture

Day! Order forms will be sent
home this week. Also, we are
looking for 100% attendance, as
Wednesday is also Count Day. Be
present! Every student COUNTS!

3. Metacognitive Learning. Students with hight self-awareness, selfmanagement, and who participate in critical thinking exercises
are more likely to lead and excel in social and academic situations.!
