Den Ehrentitel eines organista nulli in Europa secundus verdankt er offenbar seinem
Orgelspiel, nicht seiner Titigkeit als Orgelkomponist.
Fiihrte somit das Studium der Ihre-Handschriftenmit Hinblick auf das urspriinglichgesetzte
Ziel zu einem etwas enttiuschenden Resultat, so erwies es sich doch in anderer, ganz unerwarteter Ridchtungals lohnend. Wthrend nimlich die Handschrift 284 tiber loo meist anonyme
Sticke enthalt, finden sich in der Handschrift 285 etwa 45 Sticke, von denen eine Anzahl die
Namen (oder Initialen) bekannter und bedeutender Komponisten tragen. Hier folgt ein
Verzeichnis.

Organum IV, Heft 1 veri6ffentlichtennoch unter den andern mir bekannten Werken Scheidemanns vorkommt. Sie beginnt wie folgt:
