Did you know that on any given night in America, there

are more than 600,000 people experiencing homelessness

without access to basic necessities such as food and warm
clothing? Many find themselves on the streets as a result of
financial hardship, losing a job, having a home foreclosed
upon and other tragic circumstances. A number of homeless individuals are sick, struggling with mental illness, or
are victims of domestic abuse.
Project Nine1Six is a non-profit organization founded to
address the mounting issue of homelessness in Sacramento by serving the areas most needy and overlooked. Project Nine1Six endeavors to present individuals affected by
homelessness with an opportunity for real and enduring
change through food and clothing distribution, job and life
skills training, job placement and transitional living.

Since its launch, Project Nine1Six has distributed over

5,000 hot meals to the areas homeless and needy. In addition to meeting urgent needs, Project Nine1Six also works
with area social workers to create a strong safety net for the
homeless in our community - connecting them to a broad
continuum of services that foster health and well-being including counseling, education and skills training.

here is a missing man problem in our inner cities within

the Greater Sacramento Region. In these areas 70% of the
young boys here have no father to look up to, often from
the beginning of their lives. Weve all heard the expression
Like Father, Like Son. But what happens when there is
NO fatherwho does a son grow up to be like?
Single mothers and grandmothers are left to raise these
children as most of the fathers have gone away: lost to
drugs, gang crime, unemployment or prison. Few positive
male role models are here for children to look up to, especially young boys.
Founded in 1996, Shoulder To Shoulder (STS) is dedicated to breaking the cycle of the fatherlessness by encouraging and equipping men to be Christ-like servant leaders
in their home, church and community. In the community,
Christian men are sought to become mentors to at-risk
fatherless young boys, starting in the 4th grade, enabling
them to become well-balanced, mature men in their family
and community. This is accomplished through long-term
mentoring for both the young boys and their single mothers or grandmothers raising them.

Since its founding in 1971, Hosea Feed The Hungry and

Homeless Food (HFTH), a Christian international aid organization, distributed more than $3.0 billion in food, clothing, medical, educational, toiletries, furniture and cleaning
supplies to 16 Georgia counties, three states and to the
Philippines, the Ivory Coast and Uganda.

Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless follows the principle that education and self-help must fortify charity work
so recipients learn to break the cycle of poverty. HFTH prevents homelessness by providing rent, mortgage, and utility assistance, financial literacy and GED classes, distribution of school supplies and book bags to children, annual
Christmas childrens party, intensive case management and
support to programs to teach recipients how to develop
small businesses and co-ops while providing leadership
training to independent farmers.
