AMPIID SILS B1C and B1V

Amplifier and Loudspeaker Line Monitoring

The B1C and B1V SILs are plug in / out printed circuit board (P.C.B)
designed to operate in conjunction with the AMPIID power
amplifiers.

The B1C S.I.L module provides three functions :

1) Supervision of the host AMPIID amplifier
2) Supervision of the associated 70/100 volt line loudspeaker
network
3) Detection of leakage current from either loudspeaker line
conductor to earth.
The B1C operates in conjunction with the host management
system surveillance package, a 20KHz envelope is injected
into the AMPIID amplifier which drives the associated
loudspeaker load accordingly. The resulting output of the
amplifier is monitored prior to routing the test signal to the
loudspeaker line. The line current is separately supervised
and respective fault LED status indicated according to
monitor status. The sensing envelope is usually issued at
120 second intervals for 1 second. Earth leakage detection is
executed on a static basis and associated monitor LED
indication provides fault status, in event of field cable
insulation breakdown.
Note: Please be aware that B1C & SALS B2 should not be
fitted on the same amplifier.
The B1V S.I.L, provides three functions :1) Supervision of the host amplifier
2) Supervision of associated L/S line network
3) Detection of earth leakage currents from either L/S line
conductor.
The host management node issues a 20KHz envelope at 120
second intervals for 1 second which is injected into each
power amplifier input, the resulting output is monitored by
the B1V card, in the event of failure to detect the test 20KHz
signal an amplifier fault L.E.D is asserted. The 20KHz
envelope is passed via the network which is terminated with
an end of line device (E.O.L.) which responds by returning a
hand shake signal to the B1V. In the event that the B1V
fails to detect the E.O.L. confirmation a loudspeaker network
fault L.E.D is asserted. The B1V also resolves leakage
between loudspeaker line conductor and earth and lodges a
fault indication in the event of field cable insulation
breakdown.
