Abstract: Technology advances have allowed important findings in the immune system subject,
which protects the organism from foreign agents. This system presents changes with aging whose
effects have been extensively studied, especially in the Natural Killer Cells (NK), where their
response to exercise in older adults is of interest for research. Aging involves a loss of immune
functions as the decrease of self-renewal of hematopoietic stem cells and production of T cells.
Respect to NKs, there is a progressive increase, but with impaired their cytotoxic capacity . The
practice of exercises is a strategy against immune changes associated with aging, changing the
number and function of neutrophils , monocytes and NK. In the last ones, there is a transient
increase in its activity during moderate exercise as extreme exercise, followed by a
immunosuppression only during extreme exercise . In relation with the effect of exercise on NK in
older people the results are controversial, however , much of the evidence indicates increased
cytolytic activity of NK cells (NKCA) after moderate and severe training in short periods of time.

esqueltica, osteoarticular, cardiocirculatoria, respiratoria, endocrino metablica,

Science, Scielo, Ebsco y Journal of Immunology y literatura de sistema
Natural killer, exercise, innate response and immnune system.
