Divine Healing - To know HOW, you must first know WHY

Demonstration - 1 Cor 2:1-5 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of

speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. (2) For I determined not to know any
thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. (3) And I was with you in weakness, and in fear,
and in much trembling. (4) And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (5) That your faith should not stand in the
wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1 Cor 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

John G. Lake history/letter to Carrie Judd Montgomery

We agree that Jesus had dominion?
Luke 7:22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John (the Baptist) what things ye
have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the
dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

Why Dominion instead of intercession?

1. Jesus exercised dominion through the Holy Spirit when healing the sick. He NEVER interceded with
God about it. (be healed, lazarus come forth, stretch forth thy hand, take up your bed and walk)
2. What did Jesus teach the disciples?
Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (20) Teaching them to observe (keep) all things whatsoever I have
commanded you
Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received,
freely give. (How can you freely give unless you are already able?)
Luke 9:1-2 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all
devils, and to cure diseases. (2) And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
Luke 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto
you. (when Jesus sent the 70)

Is this for you today?

1. Why did the Pharisees try to stone Jesus?
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and
because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath,
but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
2. Was Jesus just showing off because Hes the Son of God?
John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do
nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the
Son likewise.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek
not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (6) Who, being in the form
of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: (7) But made himself of no reputation, and took
upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

3. And who are you?

Jesus taught the disciples the Lords prayer OUR FATHER (blasphemous to the Pharisees)
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power (ability, privilege, authority) to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the
sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
We are sons of God Romans 8:14, Galatians 4:5-6, Philippians 2:15
Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;
they shall speak with new tongues; (18) They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it
shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that
raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

What is our dominion? Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the
cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Hebrews 2:6-8 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him?
or the son of man, that thou visitest him? (7) Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou
crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: (8) Thou hast put
all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that
is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Gods will to heal

Jesus didnt come to do His own will, He came to do God the Fathers will
John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but His that sent me.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I
am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me,
Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
John 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
And what did Jesus do when He was doing His Fathers Will?
Matthew 12:15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed
him, and he healed them all;
9 times in the Gospels, Jesus healed them all. Matthew 4:24, 8:16, 12:15, 14:14, 15:30, 19:2,
Luke 4:40, 6:19, 9:11, and one mention in the book of Acts v. 5:16
Lets examine Matthew 8:16-17 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were
possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: (17) That it
might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare
our sicknesses.
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs (disease, sickness) , and carried our sorrows (pain, mental &
physical): Psalms 103:2-3,

NOW HOW?
Authority vs. Gift? Testimony
Jesus cursed the Fig Tree.
Mark 11:14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his
disciples heard it.
Mark 11:20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
Mar 11:21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is
withered away.
Mar 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
Mar 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be
thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith
shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them.
Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt
not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be
thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. (22) And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask
in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit
thereof.
What is faith?
Romans 4:19-21 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was
about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: (20) He staggered not at the
promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; (21) And being FULLY
PERSUADED that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Unbelief/doubt, the ENEMY of Faith
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither
indeed can be.
The CARNAL mind will always doubt and fear. It will always think impossible but you have to learn to
ignore that voice. It cannot be turned off but instead ignored, knowing that its hostile towards the
mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have
the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. NKJV
2 Corinthians 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I
BELIEVED AND THEREFORE I SPOKE," we also believe and therefore speak,
2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

How did the apostles/disciples do it?

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (dominion freely received, freely give)
Acts 3:12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or
why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
Acts 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know:
yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Acts 9:33-34 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and
was sick of the palsy. (34) And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and
make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Acts 9:40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body
said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
