Heads Up
The mode I chose to present my sources in was a modern website with simple fonts and
large pictures. I was mimicking the simplistic and modern look of current cosmetic websites
since my research paper is about the psychology of cosmetics. In addition, most cosmetic
websites are mainly composed of black and white, and sometimes one other color in their main
scheme. My website color scheme is like this, with a light coral as my third color.
The pictures I used on my web pages were very carefully chosen. On the home page, the
main picture behind the website title gives a sense of mystery, which I think is perfect for
psychology since it is so complex. In addition, the woman in the picture is sitting at a table of
makeup which ties into the cosmetics aspect.
The picture assigned to each source reflects an aspect of it. For Source 1, Why women
use makeup: Implication of psychological traits in makeup functions, the picture is a women
with heavy makeup. The article explains how confident women are bolder with makeup, which I
believe represents this. Source 2 has a more natural faced women, which is fitting because the
article talks about how even if a womans makeup is more natural than drastic, their self-esteem
is increased. Source 3 is about confidence, so I chose a picture of a woman with fully dyed hair,
which some people would believe takes confident to dye.
I was very excited to find a picture of a bridge for synthesis. The picture portrays
synthesis perfectly because synthesizing things is finding connections between them, and a
bridge connects two pieces of land together. For my Heads Up and Works Cited, I chose wood

paneling to give the website a natural look. This ties in to everything because psychology is a
science, but it also has to do with nature because it is all about brains and emotions.
