Rationale:
As a teacher in the State of Texas, it will be vital to have a good working
knowledge of the TEKS.
Assignment:
Use the TEKS for elementary physical education and elementary health to
answer the following questions.
1) As a first grade physical education teacher you are required by the State of
Texas to teach what 5 components of social development?

2) Give an example of an activity that could be used to teach at least one of the
TEKS sited in the answer to question 1.
The Social Development components of the 1st grade TEKS can be taught
in a myriad of ways children playing games in a group will take care of
most of these games such as doge ball, hopscotch, simple rule games
that involve interaction within each other.
3) As a 5th grade physical education teacher, you will be teaching a lesson in
which the students will learn to monitor their heart rate and learn how an aerobic
exercise helps their heart. What TEKS will be met with this lesson?

5) Give an example of an activity you could teach to meet at least one of the
TEKS you cited in question 4.
The influencing factors TEKS can be address by a simple peer pressure role
playing game: for example John is plating outside a McDonalds playground and
asks his friend Billy to leave the playground and go play in the parking lot. Billy
knows it a bad idea to leave without parental supervision but goes any ways.
(A)describehowfriendscaninfluenceaperson'shealth;and

Johns advice is a bad health and safety choice for Billy
