1.Question Here: Q2 Creativity
Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem solving,
original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you
express your creative side.
Things to consider: What does creativity mean to you? Do you have a creative skill that is
important to you? What have you been able to do with that skill? If you used creativity to solve a
problem, what was your solution? What are the steps you took to solve the problem? How does
your creativity influence your decisions inside or outside the classroom? Does your creativity
relate to your major or a future career?
Response here Minimum 250 and Maximum 350 words
Word Count: 268 words
Creativity can be expressed in so many different ways, but for me it is about going above and
beyond of what is expected of me. When I do my homework I add color or try to do something
in a different manner that still applies to the overall topic. I love getting my hands dirty and
actually trying things out for myself. This has allowed me to learn so much more than by
simply watching because you can add or take away one small component which can make
such a huge difference in the result. Creating and making new things that better fit my needs is
something I enjoy doing. I see it this way, if you always adhere to what is normal than you
will never be able to invent something that could possibly save someones life or make the
world a better place. Sometimes you have to think outside the box and explore different things
even if they seem like they would never go together. I enjoy watching and learning to do new
things and then trying them out myself to see the outcome or what I can do to make it into
something that I will enjoy more. I feel like I have many creative sides to me because I love to
personalize things to where they are something I enjoy. As well as enjoy coming up with new
and original ideas for stuff like posters, videos, etc. I always thought creativity went with art,
but I have learned that it is not the case. That expressing your creative side can mean so much
more.

2. Question Here: Q4 Opportunities Ive taken advantage of

Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or
worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.
Things to consider: An educational opportunity can be anything that has added value to your
educational experience and better prepared you for college. For example, participation in an
honors or academic enrichment program, or enrollment in an academy thats geared toward an
occupation or a major, or taking advanced courses that interest you just to name a few.

If you choose to write about educational barriers youve faced, how did you overcome or strive
to overcome them? What personal characteristics or skills did you call on to overcome this
challenge? How did overcoming this barrier help shape who are you today?
Response here Minimum 250 and Maximum 350 words
Word Count: 284 words
A significant educational opportunity I have taken advantage of is using fee waivers to take
the SAT and ACT twice to meet the requirements for college applications. These two test are
very expensive so getting them for free has been one huge boost for me because it takes me
one step closer to being accepted into my dream college. These test will help the colleges
determine my potential and how much work I have been putting into my education. This also
opens up more opportunities to achieve a higher education which is something I strive for.
Education to me is the key to a bright and successful future. My family is a huge part in why I
want to go to college to give them a better life and make them proud to say that I am their
daughter. I am the third in my family to go to college so I want to continue that trend so that
my younger sister also follows in the same footsteps. Although these tests seem like a small
part of my journey into college, to me, they are a very important step into that future that I
hope with all of my heart to obtain. These opportunities have led me to become the person I
am today. I am the type of person who invests all my time and energy into my work and I am
very passionate about learning. I also want to continue my education for myself because I have
been given such an amazing opportunity to have the option of going to college open and it has
taken me a lot of time and dedication to obtain, so I am not giving up now.

3. Question Here: Q6 Academics

Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influenced you.
Things to consider: Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any
experience you have had inside and outside the classroom such as volunteer work, summer
programs, participation in student organizations and/or activities and what you have gained
from your involvement. Has your interest in the subject influenced you in choosing a major
and/or career? Have you been able to pursue coursework at a higher level in this subject (honors,
AP, IB, college or university work)?
Response here Minimum 250 and Maximum 350 words
Word Count: 258 words
My favorite academic subject is mathematics because it has been something that I have
excelled at and enjoyed doing ever since I started learning about it. Even though I have
excelled I have also failed, but I always try my best in order to understand the material. Math
has influenced me in a positive manner because it has helped me get closer to figuring out
what I want to major in. So when the day to choose my major for college comes I will

evidently take my love for math into consideration. Although I have been able to succeed in all
academic subjects at school math has been the one that has motivated me to want to achieve
more in life. It has also made me a smart shopper with understanding how discounts work and
in many more math related real life scenarios. Who would have ever thought that what they
teach you in math class you would actually use in real life well at least some of it? Math is a
big part of my life because we use money and numbers to calculate so many things. It is a
subject that I get excited to learn about and I am not miserable when I have to solve a long or
difficult problem. In math, I have been able to teach others and find easier ways of solving
problems. There are so many resources to learn and so many more problems to solve. Math
has not only helped me with class, but in real life as well.

4. Question Here: Q8 Individuality

What is the one thing that you think sets you apart from other candidates applying to
the University of California?
Things to consider: Dont be afraid to brag a little. Even if you dont think youre unique, you
are remember, theres only one of you in the world. From your point of view, what do you
feel makes you belong on one of UCs campuses? When looking at your life, what does a
stranger need to understand in order to know you? What have you not shared with us that will
highlight a skill, talent, challenge or opportunity that you think will help us know you better?
Were not necessarily looking for what makes you unique compared to others, but what makes
you, YOU.
Response here Minimum 250 and Maximum 350 words
Word Count: 272 words
My fascination to learn new thing is something I feel sets me apart from other candidates
because there is an infinite quantity of information out there. Learning has helped broaden my
knowledge and it has allowed me to see the world through a whole different pair of eyes and
understanding. What makes me, Guadalupe, is the fact that no matter what my circumstances
are I do not let it affect me. I see hardships as inspiration or a push to want to move on to a
better life for my family and I. I do not see school as a burden or mandatory I see it as an
opportunity to make the world a better place not just for me, but for everyone. I feel I belong
on a college campus because I have worked so hard and taken everything seriously. Through
my parents knowledge, they have taught me that the most important education is not found in
school, but learned through life lessons. They have taught me so many things things of how
life works from every aspects; from health, to business, to family, and so much more. I believe
that this has helped me be a person who has both an education and is educated because there is
a difference between them. What drives my passion for education is that neither of my parents

had the opportunity to go to school. So now that I have that opportunity I want to take make
sure that I take it and run as far as I possibly can by taking advantage of every single
opportunity that allows me to succeed in college.
