Components
Motivation
(opening/
introduction/
engagement)

Development
(the largest
component or
main body of
the lesson)
3:00

Describe teacher activities

AND
student activities
for each component of the lesson. Include important higher order thinking questions and/or
prompts.
Talk about how yesterday, the students learned
that being a good citizen also means being a
good student
o Umbrella metaphor: bring out the
umbrella and call it el paragua de
buena ciudadana. Give students pieces
of paper that are examples of either
being a good citizen/student or of not
being a good citizen/student. For
example, use words like trabajdor and
preparado. Have students decide
whether or not they go under el
paragua de buena ciudadana
Talk about how a good student is not only
hardworking, but also prepared. Prepared
students are ready for class and ready to learn
Give the example of a cook in a restaurant who
needs to prepare (cook) meals for customers
Tell them that as students, its important to come
to class prepared because when they are
prepared, they are ready to learn
Tell the students that there are many examples of
being prepared in the Bible, for example, the
story of Noahs ark
Read the story of Noahs ark from Sra. Wolfs
childrens Bible
Summarize how Noah didnt wait for the rain to
start building the ark. He prepared for the
coming of the flood by building the ark itself, by
gathering the animals, and gathering food
Ask the students how they think they can be
prepared for class like Noah
Students answer how they think they
can be prepared

Closure
(conclusion,
culmination,
wrap-up)

If they dont come up with answers, tell them

that when they come to class, they need to have
their thinking caps on
When its time for specials, they need to prepare
by getting in line
When its time for recess, they have to prepare
by cleaning up their snacks and finishing their
morning work (if not already finished)
Put students in groups to practice a skit of being
prepared and have the rest of the class guess
what the group is doing to be prepared
o Give students examples that they can
use:
Line up for specials
Sit nicely and quietly in la
sala
Looking at the teacher to show
that they are prepared to learn
Give each table group the podemos ser buenos
ciudadnos al worksheet
Give them instructions: how can you be good
citizens or good students? How can you be
prepared for class?
Tell them to fill it out as a group, and once they
are done, they can give it to me

Groups perform their skits, and the

rest of the class guess what they are
doing in order to be prepared

Groups complete worksheet
