Transmedia storytelling is a term coined by Henry Jenkins in a published article in the
year 2003.There are two dimensions of transmedia story lines where one dimension is the
expansion of the story from one medium and grows to its expansion in different media and
platforms. The told story may start as a comic and through the years transform through the
different media transforming to a cartoon production series. The story may even move further to
become a featured film or a video game. However the transmedia have another characteristic that
makes them not just rely on past projects in produced platform but they have the flexible
structure of building on to new texts. The transmedia projects narrows down to a combination of
the media industry and the participative culture of the users. (Carlos A. Scolari, 2014)
Home alone was the best childhood movie that reigned in my childhood. The movie set
up is in Chicago where the McCallister fraternity is preparing for a vacation during the
Christmas holidays. The destination of the vacation is Paris. Kelvin an 8 year old boy is the
center of all ridicule in the family where his siblings and family scold him. An emanating scuffle
from Buzz an elder brother of Kevin makes Kelvin be sent to the third floor of the house to
spend the night there. Kelvin wishes that his whole family would disappear a wish that turns out
to be true in the later part of the movie. At night heavy winds damage power lines and causes all
the alarm clocks of the house to reset. The family oversleeps and in the mixed confusion of
getting to the airport and the hurry to catch the booked flight Kelvin is left behind.
On waking up Kelvin amusement is when he finds himself alone in the entire house.
Kelvin is however fearful as his next door neighbor Marley is rumored to have murdered his
family with a snow shovel. However this would become least among the worries as Kelvin
overhears Harry and Marv a pair of burglars who have been targeting vacant houses and have set
eyes on Kelvins home. Kelvin manages to fool around initially by making it seem like the

family is at home but this doesnt last for long. Midflight Kate who is mother to kelvin realizes
the absence of Kelvin and upon arrival in Paris she finds all flights to Chicago are fully booked
for the next two days. Kate is however lucky and is able to travel with a moving van after
meeting with a friend who is a lead member of a polka band. Meanwhile Kelvin sets up booby
traps in the house which leads to immense suffering when Harry and Marv break in. When the
burglars finally catch Kelvin the neighbor, Marley intervenes and knocks them unconscious.
Kelvin is rescued and police arrest Harry and Marv. On Christmas day Kelvin is disappointed
and lonely to find he is still alone. Kelvin then hears Kate enter the house and this is later
followed by a reunion of the whole family who waited in Chicago until an available flight was
found.
Marley who is Kelvins next door neighbor is married and his family lives in California.
Marley separated with her wife as a result of their daughter studying far from home. Linda who
is Marleys wife makes a painful decision to leave her husband in order to watch her daughter go
through school in California and only comes back when their daughter has finished her studies.
The above scenario is different from the belief of the people within Kelvins neighborhood as the
people believed that Marley had murdered his family using a snow shovel.
The above east coast extension will be published in a book that will be composed of the
story line of the whole Home Alone movie. The book will be the most suitable medium since it
will expound on characters in the play whom we dont know much about just like Marley.
During Christmas Kelvin reunites with his family but it is not only Kelvin who
experiences a reunion. Marley is also re-united with his family. Both his daughter and his wife
return home to celebrate the Christmas day with him. With the family re-unions taking place
Marley introduces Kelvin to his family and the written book comes to an end.

Conclusion
We are moving to a digital era and the only aspect to keep us in this dynamic world is change
and adoption. Transmedia marketing is surely the future when it comes to matters marketing and
different target markets.
