Students will create a one page flyer using Open Office , to show their knowledge of Kristallnacht the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Students
will be required to state the date, times, locations, and happenings of the uprising.

Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)

A rubric will be used to determine assessment of fliers.

Materials:
Computer Lab, references to The Uprising such as books and websites, notebooks, and writing utensil

Inclusion Techniques for Students with Special Needs:

Students with special needs will have the opportunity to benefit from the help of the learning support teacher. The y will also have
requirements listed at their computer stations and have the opportunity for extra time if needed.

Enrichment Techniques:
Gifted students will be required to explain why the uprising happened in their flyer, along with all of the other requirements of the project.

Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students have access to and are able
to participate in the lesson):
Rubrics will be designed to assess each students needs and abilities

Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:
The students will take notes on the Warsaw Uprising. They will listen to and read accounts of the uprising and discuss the events leading up
to it.

Detailed Teaching Sequence:


(Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson. Bulleted statements are preferred)

1. The teacher will ask the students to refer back to the information given the previous day on the uprising.

2. The teacher will ask the students questions based on their responses.

3. The teacher will explain that there were always fliers being put up in Poland telling of new laws of the ghetto and lists of people
expected to report for slave labor.

4. The teacher will show the students some of the flyers that were posted during the time period.

5. The teacher will explain to the students that they will be required to create their own flyer based on what they have learned about
the Uprising and will also explain the requirements by passing out a rubric for the flyer and that they will be using Open Office to
create the flyers.
6. The teacher will explain to the students that they have 2 periods to complete the assignment.
7. The teacher will take the students to the computer lab.
8. The teacher will have the students turn on the computers and log in.
9. The teacher will ask the students to open Open Office.
10. The teacher will explain that Open Office is similar to Microsoft Word, but may have some differences.
11. The teacher will go through some of the common used elements of Open Office, and advise that she will answer any questions
that arise during the creation of the flyer.

12. The teacher will ask the students to look through their references as they create their flyer.

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

The students will turn in their flyers via email to the teacher.

Closure:
The students will present their flyers and discuss them and the information that need corrected.
