Whom It May Concern:

It is my great pleasure to recommend Lisa Hatley for an internship with your

organization. Lisa was a student in my Interpreting III class at Austin Community College in the
fall of 2016. It was a joy to have Lisa in class, and I could clearly see she was a dedicated student
who took the work of interpreting seriously. She was a thoughtful contributor to class
discussions that required critical thinking and analysis, and through her comments often helped
the class as a whole come to a greater understanding of the issues that interpreters face. She
consistently displayed a willingness to push the boundaries of her own comfort zone in the
pursuit of learning.

Lisa is an accomplished pre-professional interpreter, and she is earnest in her desire to

examine and improve her work. She displayed incredible commitment to honing her skill by
volunteering to be part of a team that interpreted an ACC play as part of a collaboration
between the drama department and the interpreter training department. The student
interpreting team dedicated long hours to study, analysis, translation, and practice, and I saw
Lisas interpreting skills increase tremendously as a direct result of her effort and participation.

Lisa comports herself as a professional interpreter should, and is sensitive and

supportive to peers and colleagues. She is talented, enthusiastic, and hard working, and I am
confident she would be an asset to your organization.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at aulloa@austincc.edu for additional information
or questions. I will be happy to expand on my recommendation.

Sincerely,
