FLOOR CONVECTORS
Natural Convection Floor Convectors TK
Floor Convectors
Application:
Floor convectors are modern heating bodies
designed for primary heating, as well as for
secondary heating, combined with other primary
heating bodies (radiators, floor heating, fan
convectors, air conditioning devices, etc.).
They are suitable for the heating of rooms with large
glazing surfaces: car showrooms, winter gardens,
apartments, business, shopping and similar
premises. In addition to their heating function, their
further important functions are the prevention of
condensation build-up on glazing, and fending-off
ingress of cold air into the room.

Floor Convectors
Application:
Floor convectors are modern heating bodies
designed for heating of business and shopping
premises, car showrooms, hotels, apartments and
other rooms. They serve either as primary heating
bodies or secondary heating bodies, combined with
primary heating bodies of other types (e.g. floor
heating, radiators, fan convectors, air conditioning
devices, etc.) They are particularly suitable for
application in all rooms with envelope walls exposed
to low exterior temperatures (large windows or glass
walls, cold walls).
Benefits:
In rooms with large glazing envelope surfaces or
cold envelope walls, it is difficult to establish
comfortable heating by means of conventional
heating bodies only. Temperature differences
between the glass surfaces and bulk air temperature
lead to cooling of air in the boundary layer along
the wall, and, in turn, to its downwards flow and
spreading across the entire room floor area, the
result being occupants discomfort. Especially when
outside temperatures drop below 10 C, it is
virtually impossible to maintain occupational
comfort in rooms with large surface windows unless
auxiliary floor convector heating is used.
Floor convectors further prevent condensation
build-up on glass, as they maintain a layer of warm
air adjacent to the glass surfaces. Floor convectors
(in particular, the TKV type) also prevent ingress of
cold outside air.
Functions:
Room heating (primary or secondary heating)
Maintenance of uniform air circulation field in
the room, and thereby, uniform distribution of
heat throughout the room
Prevention of condensation build-up on glass
surfaces
Prevention of ingress of cold outside air
through windows or doors, and thereby,
prevention of draught inside the room
Room cooling (TKH)
Operation:
Warm water from the central heating network is fed
into the floor convector heat exchanger and its heat is
transferred to air in the convector. The floor convector
draws in cold air resting close to the floor, heats the
air in the heat exchanger, and dispatches it back into
the room. In the case of heating with a TK type
convector, the heated air raises due to natural
convection.
A TKV type floor convector has a fan built in, to draw
in cold air from the region close to the floor, and,
after heating the air, to feed it back into the room, in a
pattern providing an air curtain on the glass window
surface. In this way, forced air circulation is
maintained in the room, providing faster, more
intensive and uniform heating than achievable by
natural convection (e.g. by means of radiators or
natural convection floor convectors).
Floor convector TKH has operation equal to TKV
including cooling function.
Types:
Natural convection floor convectors (type TK)
with single-, double- or triple-row heat exchanger
Forced convection floor convectors (type TKV)
with single-, double- or triple-row heat exchanger
Floor convectors with forced convection and
cooling function (type TKH) with two- or
three-row heat exchanger
Characteristics:
Large heating and cooling capacity and
high product quality
Easy connection to a single- or dual-pipe
system, like with conventional radiators
Small water content and fast heating of the room
Installation into the floor, hence no occupation
of floor area
Variety of control accessories available
Options to combine natural and forced convection
Variety of special designs available
(corner designs, rounded contours, variety of
tread-on grilles)
Nice appearance
Easy installation, operation and maintenance
Application:
Natural convection floor convectors are applied
basically as secondary heating bodies, in
combination with other primary heating bodies
(also in combination with TKVs serving as
primary heating bodies). They are installed in the
floor, in immediate proximity to doors to outside
or windows.
Operation:
Natural convection floor convectors apply the
principle of natural circulation of air. Warm water
form the central heating network is fed into the
floor convector heat exchanger, where its heat is
transferred to the air inside the convector. The
heated air then rises into the room.
Principle of operation:

Principle of operation:
Operation:
Forced convection floor convectors apply the
principle of forced convection, i.e., air volume flow
rate is maintained both by natural circulation and by
means of a tangential fan.
A floor convector draws in air from its surrounding
floor area, heats the air in the heat exchanger, and
then returns it into the room by blowing the air
against the window surface. The jet of heated air
prevents condensation of cold glass surfaces. TKV
floor convectors further prevent cold outside air from
ingressing into the room.
Compared to natural convection floor convectors,
the TKV convectors maintain higher air circulation
velocities in the room, and thereby reduce the room
height profile temperature differences and improve
occupancy comfort.
To perform efficiently, the floor convector should be
installed as close as possible to glass surfaces.
Forced Convection Floor Convector

Components
Heat Exchanger
The heat exchanger is made of high quality materials to guarantee a long
service life. It is made of ( 15 mm copper tubes with drawn-on 83 x 50
mm aluminium lamellas. In this way, firm contact is achieved between the
lamella and the tube, and in turn, excellent heat transfer. Water
connections consist of R1/2 thread nuts. We install single-row, doublerow or three-row heat exchangers, which differ in capacities.
Tangential Fan
The tangential fan consists of a single-phase low power electric motor
(230/240 V, 50/60 Hz, max. 29 W, max. 0.23 A) and fans on both sides of
the motor. In a standard convector, two fan sets are installed. The fan is
protected against mechanical damaging by means of a protection mesh
screen.
019
Housing
The convector housing is made of galvanised steel sheet and powder
painted in black. On the purchasers request, the housing can be painted
in any RAL scale colour. The housing can be thermally insulated (DIN
4108, 4109), on request. The standard housing length is from 950 to 450 mm.
When longer units are required, the housing is assembled from several
unit parts.
If requested, the housing can be designed so as to allow levelling by
height (Code 019). The levelling requires a simple loosening of the floor
convector legs by means of a screwdriver and adjusting the height. This
design solution simplifies the installation of convectors even in the cases
of uneven floors.

Corner Designs
If the convector assembly axis is broken, special corner elements are installed in the corners. The heat exchangers of adjacent linear sections are interconnected
by means of flexible or copper tubes, so that the tubes are not fitted with lamellas in the corners.

Application:
Cooling floor fan convectors are designed for
secondary cooling, during the cooling season, in
rooms where cooling is required close to the heat
source (e.g., solar radiation through windows) to
prevent room temperature raising. They are
suitable for all rooms with large hot envelope
surfaces (large windows, glazing, etc.). They are
applied in buildings in which, due to the
construction characteristics, ceiling cooling is
not feasible. During the heating season, the
convectors can be applied for room heating.
TKH (Basic Design) Components:
1. Heat exchanger
2. Tangential fan (with IP 44 protection)
3. Electric connection socket
4. Longitudinal tread-on grille
5. Condensate drip tray
