PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT AND CONSTITUTION

II. Course Description:

This course is an intensive study and analysis of the Philippine

Constitution. It aims to provide an objective politico-historical analysis on
the accomplishments and performance of Philippine leaders, the
evolution of the Philippine Government and the Philippine Constitution.
A profound study of Philippine government and politics ensures the
students to acquire significant lessons on matters pertaining to
leadership, and the building of a collective consciousness. Students
critical thinking and ability to analyze cases applying the Constitution will
be highlighted using selected cases demonstrating the interplay of
constitutional law, as well.

III. General Objectives:

A. Cognitive

.1 To gain profound insights in the evolution of Philippine government, constitution

and politics, and the emergence of the Philippines as a nation-state.

.2 To provide students with skills necessary in the critical understanding of the

fundamental law of the land.
B. Affective

.1 To draw out creative interpretations in reading the Philippine Constitution.

.2 To internalize early Filipinos initiative in establishing a sense of nationhood.
C. Psychomotor

.1 To acquire skills and exposures to current debates and theoretical discourse in

Philippine government and politics.

.2 To apply skills gained in treating issues and more profound interpretations of the
Philippine government, politics, and the constitution.
