I am writing in response to the critical care nurse position advertised as being open at this time. I am a
talented nursing student who has maintained an excellent GPA above 3.75 through two different bachelor degrees.
This position gives me the opportunity to start off my career in a challenging yet rewarding part of medicine. It puts
me to the test and allows me to apply everything I have learned for the past year in nursing school directly to patient
care in a very demanding setting. I have always been attracted to difficult yet fulfilling experiences. I believe this
internship will not only fulfill my challenge driven personality, but will demand me to put everything I have into
something I truly have a passion for, taking care of critical patients.
I have recently completed my preceptorship in the ICU and throughout my experiences I have witnessed and
learned detailed, focused, and communicative patient care. I display many great qualities that can add to the team of
ICU nurses. I enjoy being part of a collaborative team and I attribute many of my great qualities to experiences as a
collegiate athlete. I understand the commitment of long hours and know how vital teamwork is to succeeding a
common goal especially in the healthcare setting. I love to learn new things and I am very teachable. I am not afraid to
ask questions when needed and I understand the importance of constructive criticism especially as a new nurse. I
should also be chosen for this position because I display a great amount of compassion for my patients. Throughout
my time in the ICU, I have had multiple experiences in which I displayed compassion to grieving families and
understand the importance of being present during their time of need. Finally, I am responsible, reliable, and
understand the meaning of hard work.
